The let one of your buddys drive it and floor it and do two complete circles then hit a brand new nissan pickup (in school parking lot) and push it over two parking blocks thats how you get a new frontend, after i had to pay for the nissan of coarse... i lost that deal bigtime, thats a day i shoulda ditched
It had a 2 four tunnel ram on it then too and the cops loved me

Re: high school trucks

cool thread...i remember reading this way back when, so thanks for digging it up...i didn't personally own a '60-66 during high school, but my dad had a few...never had any digital pics of "Old Blue" from back in the day, but i came across it for sale on Ebay last year & saved a few...it looked just like this when we had it for over 10(+) years....i would drive it to school on many occasions...my dad also used it as a daily driver for a while....it looked like hell, but we were never scared to hop in & take it anywhere....here's to "Old Blue"

Re: high school trucks

This truck wasn't mine in high school but i remember seeing it everyday in the parking lot. I graduated in '09 so im a youngen but this truck always caught my attention. I had an itch to own it but he said it was his grandpas and was going to keep it then I didnt see it for about 2 years. Turns out he was going to teach his little brother how to drive a stick and his brother wrecked it. So two years after that I bought it. Funny how things work haha

My brother is 11 years older than me. My '62 was his high school truck... He painted it in his autobody class at a Vo-Tech.

Re: high school trucks

My dad bought our truck in 1969 when he was only 25, We eventually put a camper on it in the early 80's and used it until I was probably 10 (1992). This is the same truck I learned to drive on and drove from ages 16-19. It now sits in my driveway, pink slip in my name, waiting for me to get back from this deployment so I can continue restoring her to the family.

Re: high school trucks

I have to do some digging to find old pics of mine... was always grey primer/stock height/ 6 lug aluminum slots/ and snow tires on back b/c they made the best smoke during burnouts on my budget!!!

My Dad sold it when I got deployed to Japan in the Marines. I owned 5-6 others, then 11 years later my brother found my original truck sitting in a field with a blown motor and trans... needless to say I had to buy it back...

6 year later it is COMPLETELY new underneath with crate motor/trans; 5 lug; locker rear with 3.73 gears; disc brakes in front; power steering; full air ride; next will start to work on interior, last but not least will be the body.

Thanks for looking, good idea for a thread!

good luck on your truck...

WAGZ
