Re: School me on big trucks - 89 GMC 6000

I've got the box off and using it as a garage for my miller trailer welder and John Deere Gator. The hood is off, the wrecker frame is sitting on the frame so I can see where to cut it and getting ready to pull the motor. The 6BT/NV4500 is ready to go in, just trying to find time. I have so many projects but bumping this one to the top now that my car trailer was stolen. Updates coming. I also have a 3-spd browning gear splitter I may install to get that little extra O/D and not have to change the axle gears.

Sorry to hear your trailer was stolen. I've had vehicles/equipment stolen too. Thieves are the lowest life form.

Re: School me on big trucks - 89 GMC 6000
Got the 366 pulled and the Cummins/NV4500 ready for install. I got a PTO to drive the pump and bed frame is sitting on the truck. Need to trim the truck frame down and get it mounted official.

I was sorry to read of your diagnosis. I hope things are going as well as they can with that. I was betting the truck would be ok under all of that moss and such and it's better than I expected. Cool project.

Re: School me on big trucks - 89 GMC 6000
I decided to pull the cab and slide it back on the frame to make it easier to drop the engine/trans in. As I get older I'm not a fan of working from the bottom.
