Thanks man! I always wanted a 50th and when I saw this burb on the side of the hi way I bought it 30 minutes later lol (yes I know its a GMC so not a 50th) same color though...

I really want a 50th truck and my wife does not understand why I would want two trucks that are the same color

I didn't do anything but drive my burb to breakfast, and stretched her legs out for a hundred miles or so around where I live.
As soon as the heat picks up in my area, it's best for me to get the old girl back home
(No A/C)...

Ten year old car crazy great nephew came over today. He goes and checks out every old vehicle on the place every visit. So, we took him for a ride in the 72 Burb and the 56 Chevy. He asked tons of questions ( love that) and pretty much went nuts. Had a great time...fanning the flame.

He thought both were cool and I think he liked the 56 better. He also drove the JD Gator around with his Grandpa and made for a memorable day.

I went and looked at my finished frame and engine thats in a garage 10 miles away. Been swamped with preparing for my teaching job, small engine repair and a 69 Cougar that runs like crap.

Need to start on stripping and priming the doors. So much for getting the body home before Fall!

Installed the rear seat brackets I got off board member 1968K20 I thought about prepping and painting them but decided not to. This suburban isn't perfect and I like it that way.

Now I can sit in the back seat and make vroom vroom noises...

Tried out some aluminum polish on my wheels. First pic, before washing. Second pic, after washing and before polishing. Third pic, after polishing. It's amazing what a little (ok a lot of) polish will do!

Nice long weekend gave me a day to knock a couple items off the burb to-do list:

1) tighten ac & ps belts
2) install carb heat insulator
3) oil change
4) reset timing after changing vac advance from manifold to ported
5) tighten valve cover
6) raised fuel line off of valve cover some
7) check front springs & shocks to help determine amount lowered & part numbers if possible
8) tighten clamps & bolts that appeared to be leaking coolant

Looks like quite a bit to me. That kind of stuff always takes longer than you think it is going to......

That's the truth...for example, to install the insulator (from Edelbrock) that didn't come with gaskets, I had to search if gaskets are needed (consensus: they are needed), figure out which ones I need and where they are available locally which is becoming increasingly difficult. I didn't realize the primaries & secondaries are different sizes on the Eddie 1406. They aren't as diff as a Q-jet, but not equal like the spacer. After I pulled the carb, I saw the intake is two ovals, not one square, not 4 square...yada. Luckily, Advance had the gasket options and a new 1406 with gasket to compare. So now I have three different shapes between the carb and intake. Hard to say if that reduces performance since I'm not obstructing the paths. It may have been best to have a single square opening like the gaskets...oh well...it got me to work today, so I'm claiming success. I also think it helped hot starts, too, which was the ultimate motivation.

In short...it's the research, decision and part location stuff that takes the most time.
