Re: Project "Never Again" will I rebuild a perfectly good truck

As the project unravelled I wanted everything to be as good as I could get it. so even though the supports, rockers & cab corners were done the first build. I was not happy with the slight angle of the cab corners and the fact of having floor modifications sooo......

Next was to have a new one piece floor put in and rebuild from there.

Re: Porject "Never Again" will I rebuild a perfectly good truck

Thanks guys,

I was very happy when they first came out with the one piece floor. That way I know what I have since these trucks have alot of floor issues.

What is everyone's thoughts of finishing the underside of a new floor? I undercaoted and painted last time but with this build I was considering just painting.

Looking great. Did you by chance take anymore floor install pics? I'm thinking of doing mine in the next few weeks.

Thanks in advance

Re: Porject "Never Again" will I rebuild a perfectly good truck

I have record of alot of the steps out at the shop. Unfortunately I wont be going out there for a while.

If you do a search under one piece floor you will find some good reference material. Efabman is one of many that have good threads to follow.

Are you going to do the underside of your box the same way?

Re: Porject "Never Again" will I rebuild a perfectly good truck

I am looking for some samples of inside lip to inside lip dimensions on a factory SWB (fleetside). I could not find the right wording in my searched as I assume it has been cover a few times.

Reason for request is to compare to my newer style box which my narrowing of the diff and wheel BS was based on.

Thanks,

Re: Project "Never Again" will I rebuild a perfectly good truck

Well, I have some more pics off the camera to bring project closer to present state.

The cab has had the drip-rail removed, Pillars smoothed out and the overall hole opening for the windshield is smaller to allow for the windshield to be urethaned in to give a flush mount look.

There was 90 degree filler panels made on the pillars and along bottom of windshield frame to smooth it out. Then the lip the windshield sits on was widened to have more surface area to mount to.

Here is a couple of in process pics of a modified version of the first frame stiffener system that Nate did up for me. It is completed now and waiting on powder coating.

Re: Porject "Never Again" will I rebuild a perfectly good truck

Very nice. What are your plans for the garnish moulding that goes around the windshield to cover the urethane? Modified stock stuff? I'm guessing not but am curious. Thanks Ryan.

The glass will be coated black like on newer vehicles and a .5" rubber trim will blend the glass to the windshield pillar. Not sure what I am going to do on the inside yet?
