Re: What did you get done this weekend?

Worked about 4 hours at the Cat house Sat. morning, more blocking the doors & fenders. Sunday after church took the wife & daughter to Carrabas for dinner. Went to the garage and looked at the truck, got cold and went back to the house...and here I am. Will start back on it Monday night.

Re: What did you get done this weekend?

Took the old ratty box off the 72 and started prepping the frame for paint and washed my daily driver Dodge Charger yesterday. Today I shoveled snow, and started diagnosing the check engine light on the work truck. We got freezing rain at about 6:30 this morning, followed by about 6-8" of snow. The streets have not been cleaned since the last 6-8" of snow we got, so the town is at basically a standstill. I'm now in the market for a pre-76 4 wheel drive, this is rediculous...

Re: What did you get done this weekend?

I'm fighting a power steering conversion. Some time in my trucks past the steering box was WELDED on. Looks like 3 of the 4 bolts were broken at some point so they decided to weld the box on. I'm guessing it was pretty easy to weld around the box but it's not real fun to cut it off.

Re: What did you get done this weekend?

I put a spacer lift and add a leaf on my DD (tacoma).

In my Jimmy I put my tranny and transfer case in. Started sandblasting my grille and ran out of sand about halfway through. I did get the garage cleaned up some though. Wife was kind of happy about that.

Re: What did you get done this weekend?

I changed the tranny fluid and filter in my '00 Z71.... what a mother explicative explicative! I probably did it wrong, but I had to remove the heat shield on the PS, the front driveshaft, the shift cable and bracket, after all that, I then had to either remove the exhuast, or unbolt the trans mount and jack it up, I did the latter, THEN the stupid rubber seal for the filter is actually metal and that was an explicative to get out, but I got it done in a whopping 3 hours. No wonder chevrolet charges 130 bucks to do it..... Sorry, fellers I had to rant!

As far as the 67, I've been looking up parts, checking prices, comparing, checkin ebay..... lets just say in the next couple of months... I'M GOING SHOPPING

Re: What did you get done this weekend?

Saturday was my big day to finish my c-notch and paint. Got the notch cut and some more parts cleaned and painted. Organized a little in the garage and pondered while the paint dried. Today I just puttered about like Rain Man and painted my front crossmember and trailing arms. HOPEFULLY tomorrow I'll get all x-members and suspension installed and have a rolling chassis again so I can sweep out the garage....yeah...grade 8...grade 8 on the frame...11 lbs of grade 8 on the frame...yeah... gotta put grade 8 on the frame...yeah

Re: What did you get done this weekend?

On Saturday I went to church and spent they rest of hanging out with my friends. Sunday, I worked for about six hours at my part time job making money so I can use it towards the truck and now I'm doing my homework. Can't do anything with the truck until it warms up again in the spring time, since I work on the truck outside and I can't paint in this cold weather.

Re: What did you get done this weekend?

Installed used choke stat I bought off the board a while back.

Pulled the Rochester 2GV off the intake manifold, went to swap the rebuilt one I picked up off the board a couple months ago, found that it won't fit (wrong manifold). Will be reposting that for sale very soon.

I tore the original 2GV apart to find out what was wrong with it. For one the float was sunk (small crack filled it with gasoline), and it looks like the accelerator pump plunger was probably too worn to work properly. Crossing fingers that when I fix the float and rebuild it that the power piston still works right and it just might be okay.

I compression checked the engine, so far not good. #1,2,3,5,7 have ~ 110psi, #4 is ~70psi and #6,8 have ~130psi. Bought an old-timey oil can so I can squirt some oil down in #4 to see if it is the rings or not. 6 of the 50-mile old plugs were oil fouled, one was so bad it had chunks baked inbetween the electrode and ground.

I installed the ashtray cupholder conversion kit I recently bought from Early Classic. It's a pretty cool modification.

Re: What did you get done this weekend?

me and my buddy installed my new manifold, valve covers, and carburetor. All Edelbrock. In addition, I installed my new front brakes (bout dang time) then we ran into trouble, left it for Sunday and went and had... err... "fun" with some cruisin, and some... uhh... beverages. anyways, the next day we tried the carb, don't fit still, put the stock old Quadrajet on it, and found we had oil leaking out of the back. yay, so this week we're trying at it again, haha. that's my story of the weekend, lots of fun gettin down and dirty! really dirty, I dunno how, but I ended up looking like a grease depository (if such a thing exists)

Re: What did you get done this weekend?

drove back to the farm friday night.Got up early sat.morning, hooked onto trailer and headed south to buy a 72 bed and ls door.Got home off loaded and pulled the blazer into the shop and replaced the leaky intake gaskets and failing thermostat.Sunday, changed oil cuz I managed to dump alittle antifreeze into the engine the day before, checked and regaped plugs and checked the timing.Drove back to Lloyd last night and relaxed for a few hours with a few glasses of spiced rum.Looooooooong day today .
Oh and the entire time I dreamt about actually doing something on the 72.

Re: What did you get done this weekend?

I finally got the old 1947 Lincoln SAE300 arc welder running. The original Hercules flathead straight 6 had some stuck valves that I freed up with penetrating oil and tapping 'em with a small ball pein hammer. Got it running yesterday and I rolled out the welding leads and ran a couple beads with it and this machine runs a better bead than the new Miller 250's we have at our school. Had to change the oil in it, the new filter cartridge is in tomorrow. I can't wait!!!! Now I need to build my BBQ pit, fix up a new trailer for it, and build a headache rack for my Grandpaw's truck.

Re: What did you get done this weekend?

I bolted on my engine towers and tranny x-member in an attempt to actually get this thing mocked up so I can make some real progress this year. Look at all that nice shiney hardware! *edit* oh yeah, I hacked out two rivets on the front x-member so I can mount my sway bar. First time grinding/pounding out rivets, boy does it ever pay off to have the right tools for the job!

Yesterday I hooked up a professional exhaust. Made it from old 2 in'' tailpipes running right off the rusty headpipes . Exits right under the t-case. Now I need some gas to start her up.

Re: What did you get done this weekend?

I thought I'd accomplished something in 12 hours - man you guys must work and not drink! HA! Actually, I closed in this roof that was hanging off the end of my garage - it'll give me an additional 8x20 area for MORE storage - I need it as the 4 car bays aren't enough. geesch! I just might end up with room for my truck - after the mower, chipper, spare central air unit, extra frig, weedeaters, blowers, etc, etc. are out of there.....
