Thanks for the wonderful welcome everyone!

here's the before pic, exactly as she sits now....we tried to get her started last weekend so that we could estimate how much work the engine will need, but she wouldn't. either one of the cables from the battery is bad, or is one of the fuses.

and all the specs:

1970 chevy 1/2 ton

-2 wheel drive

-307 V8 2bbl

-200hp stock

-3spd manual transmission

-117,790 units built

-built in oshawa

We're gonna be getting a new (used) hood, new rocker panels, new tailgate for sure this year as far as the body work goes, but the engine will definetly come first!

Welcome from Virginia. I have to agree that you might want to consider a 4wd conversion as well.

Thanks for the welcome and the comments on the truck.

IN response to the couple comments that it should be a 4 X 4, not gonna do that, mainly cuz I want to keep it close to original and we're possibly gonna lower it a little next year.

Plus Jim (my fiancee) has a new truck with 4 x 4, so if it's really bad I'll just borrow that! LOL, I did all last winter during the week when he wasn't around.

We just figured it wouldn't be too bad to drive for 1 winter (it'll still be better than my car seeing as I won't be plowing through the snow with my front bumper).

Anyways, thanks so much again for the welcome! I love this site already

Looks like a great start of a fun project.. I like the spare tire option in the bed. Sooo much easier than crawling under the truck in the mud.. Welcome again!

This is a picture of my FIRST 72.. I got really stupid and sold it about 2 years ago. I sure miss that truck! I owned it for almost 30 years! It was bought new at Connell Cheverolet in Costa Mesa Calif. My graduation present from high school. That truck saw soooo many good times. If the inside could only talk!

Connell Cheverolet in Costa Mesa Calif.? Very interesting...we have on with the exact same name here in columbus Ohio.
Welcom to the board! I will have to argue about the truck not being good in the snow...mine has been great the last 2 winters.
Looks like you have a pretty nice example there to start off with.

Yeah, I know, took me forever to get here....well to sign up, I've been looking around and reading and stuff, but finally yesterday I signed up!

Anyways, you were very right and I love the site, I'm sure it will be very useful in the next couple months.

and definetly, even though the truck belongs to both me and Jim, I like to say mine....she's gonna be beautiful when complete!

And yes, the # of women definetly has to be increased, although I'm impressed with how many I've seen on here compared to other forums.

Anyways, thanks every for the welcome! And thanks 69girl for telling me to get my but on this forum!
