If I were the kid, I set up a fake ebay account and bid like crazy. Get the numbers up so high that nobody else would bid. Whats his mom going to do when she has a dead beat buyer?

You may be right 10 out of the last 12 bids were from bidders with zero feedback.

Maybe Junior has a plan of his own...
