Re: What rear bumper is this?

D&D in Seguin made bumpres for a lot of trucks I see in the Central/South Texas area to add to the list of manufacturers.

Re: What rear bumper is this?

I found a different pic of the first bumper from a Mexico trip. This should be an American Bumper Sales bumper I believe?

Re: What rear bumper is this?

I believe my Dad's replacement bumper was a Barden, but the first one has the red/white/blue tag mid bumper. I need to find one of these!

Re: What rear bumper is this?

Where was the truck with the bumper you show sold new?

I've attached a picture of my rear bumper and it was sold new in National City CA at Lamb Chevrolet.

I love how sleek and non bulky it is. It's really the nicest non 'sport' bumper I have ever seen.

The vertical section is made from a piece of bent steel channel. Diamond plate top cap and that other plate with the 3 trailer ball holes is about 3/8 thick plate steel.

It was sold to my Dad at WM L Morris is Fillmore, CA. It looked sleeker than the replacement he put on it years later as well.

Man, that is one nice looking bumper! Well fitted, too.

Re: What rear bumper is this?

I have lost track of the number of the aftermarket bumpers I have recycled. Some were even chromed. They typically go to the recycle with the saddle tanks.
BTW it's difficult to get rid of any used fuel tanks as the recycle'rs don't like them because of the hazards they represent.
They look like scrap after you smash them with a 70,000 lb track hoe. Yes, times have changed and how our trucks are used have with them. Interesting thread.

I had a Chevy Vega I cut up due to rust. When I took the chunks to the scrap yard, I realized that I didn't have the pink slip and said I'd go back and get it. The yard guy said, "Looks like #1 tin, to me!", and paid me my $10 (IIRC). Metal was cheap in those days.

Re: What rear bumper is this?

Rear bumpers were usually a dealer option due to the owners wanting to select what rear bumper would suit their needs.

Re: What rear bumper is this?

Told SpecialK I'd add to this thread. Other have used picture of his rear bumper for a wanted ad. I did weeks ago on CL and got a response quickly. Seller asked if I saw his ad on CL..I hadn't. Only had to go 40' out of the way on a trip. This bumper has the additional support in center..unsure why..maybe structural upgrade. Welds consistent with rest so not added on? Since I've wire wheeled, removed over 50 weld bbs and primed it.
My C30 is a C&C so apparently the frame is 3"ish inches longer in rear why its not yet sitting down.
I was also designing in my head a front Barden style and have partially mocked one up in wood then steel. Steel yard flipped 2 digits in my number so took forever before I finally got the diamond plate. Coincidentally their job bidder was at same job I was on...picked up that afternoon 8 weeks late.
3" spine with few ribs. 1/8" diamond plate will have a slight lip over front..had to give it a little more character. Lights? winch? ..much later. Will tighten ends up a little and plate it but wont get to bumper for awhile..have to start on front finally.
