I'll tell yea about 3 years ago I was in the last third of a 35 ford hot rod build, it was the 5th rod in 6 years.....I found myself doing halfass work on it, so I walked away well about 6 weeks ago I found this old truck (70 C1O LWB) .....

Well.....I just unloaded a pile of brush and 2 yards of bark mulch from it...it runs and drives good but when I pulled it out of the woods my thought was build a POS truck for doing grunt work ( scrap steel,wood, dump stuff what ever) I threw a few panels on it and primed it up and put an air ride for the loads it is going to carry ....well it does it very well but the build was fun and the comments I get about my rat rod are funy as hell to me..but it does have that little bad ass attitude ....

Best I can say is build yourself the cheapest beater pos truck you can and so what if it ain't pretty and the panels are less than straight....my attitude was its a pos now and will be a POS when I'm done...I drive the hell out of it and if it breaks so what I'm ahveing a ball with it and it does it's job ..how ever I was thinking that a 500 catty engine would make hauling easier ...well I guess it will depend what I find in the woods next?????


and yes that old c10 is going to pull the 35 rod back inside, funny how some old pos truck with a little attitude will get peoples attention....maybe I need to buld something Kool................................

Hey retselgerg ... The above is another reason to stick to our classic...These trucks represent an era of Americana that the modern cars and trucks can't touch. Our trucks have just got that cool factor that you can't buy. In my old age I'd rather be than fast !

The things in life that are the most rewarding are not always the easiest. If you give yourself a break, mark on the calendar the day you would like to start working on your truck again, and you will feel alot less frustrated by everything. I know how you feel, I am just getting my '69 back together now and it has been trying at times to say the least. Best of luck.

welp long time to tha post but i've drove the truck a few times and its back...i think my next ride will have an LS12or3 in it tho....think im ready fo some late model muscle...but i love that ole truck, i let me friend drive it and he is like man i love that truck

Maybe you need another project to distract you for awhile. I know all about being frustrated!!!! Just drive the truck when the MOOD hits you! If you get rid of it you will lose the time you spent on it!!!!

I am there on a 1940 Chev tudor right now as well. Just too much to do and too little money /health to get it done. So I put it away for awhile and up for sale. Knowing me ,I'll get the bug again at some point if I do not get rid of it. Which is why I am picking up that 69 Chev PU beater to put my fresh 468 BBC into. Strictly bolt in job w/o having to worry about fabbing every d_mn part.

Literally everything required is easy to get locally. On a street rod you either fab it or buy it ($$$$$$$$$), Keep in mind I am in MN and Chevy trucks are a dime a dozen. Rusted parts trucks most of the time, but common as nails. I looked at a 67 1/2 T long bed today just outside of town. but over priced for what is there IMHO.($400)

you know since I was about 12 year's old I have eat , slept , and lived the vehicles that GM (MOSTLY CHEVROLET) built from 1953 to 1974 , I love the nostalgia of them , and for me I want them to be just like they were when new , my dad showed me how to work with point's in the 70's and I love them , I have drove my 67 camaro for 10 year's put 90K miles on it and changed point's twice , my 67 C10 is all stock and I just can't change it ,
I used to get aggravated with the paint and body myself when I was younger
(NEVER DID HAVE TROUBLE WITH MECHANIC WORK) but now bodywork just about got me till I figured it out ,,
I can honestly say that in 10 year's of working on my 67 camaro tearing it down to loose peices I have NEVER got agravated with it ,

same for my 67 C10 worked my a$$ off on it when I got it , now I did get a little upset over the poor body panel fit but I got over it quick / fixed the problems and have enjoyed it since ,,

ride up this evening greg and enjoy your truck ,,

your dad's is enjoying that stepside he rides it all the time ,,,,,,,

hang in there. i thought about selling my truck off and on over the years but could not do it. i just set it aside and waited.don't give up. i am sure glad i didn't. i have had my truck for 26 years since i was 13, it part of the family now. good luck
