Cab

Got into the cab this week, cleaned it out and removed the windshield.
Found some rust in the frame. It looks like a good sand blast should save it though.
The rust is on the inside/top of the windshield frame just under the drivers visor. Its still very solid on the other side of it, thankfully.

That was a sweet truck before you started the rocker job but that's how it alway's goes... How does the truck sound with the muffler's mounted way back under the bed or is it just quiet????

I'm guessing that it is pretty quiet considering that there are 2 mufflers per pipe.

With welding in the rocker there -- Are you leaving it as just tacked in, or did you go around again a couple times and fill the whole thing in?

More Stuff Done

The biggest repair so far has been the windshield frame repair. Fortunetly I had a donor frame to cut up and use as a patch. It's been cut and fit now and is ready to weld.
Rust? What rust, I don't see no stinkin' rust!! (yeah right)
The entire bed is almost completed, just need's to be blocked out.
Still need to sand down the hood and both doors.

FRENCHBLUE72, yeah, it's quite...now that's the muffler's shop "band aid" / short cut to a lousy sounding first attempt. It sounded like a$$ with the front ones only, so they stuck on the rear turbo's as a fix. It does have a little rumble still though (very little) At least they fixed it though...

Russel, the rockers we're left that way, it's the same way the factory did it.
Trying to make it look original.

I assume you didn't find that truck around here. I can't even find something like that for sale in CT, let alone price.

Found More Rust...

Sand-blasted the drivers rocker only to discover more rust Oh well, better to get it all now then find it again later.
Here's more progress pic's
*the repaired windshield frame* came out great
*rear window "snap area" repair* had all those snaps around the entire rear window frame, pulled, welded, ground and primered them away. :p
*the latest rust uncovered* Cut out the bad and replace it with good.
All for now, stay tuned...soon to be going to color.

Bad/Good

Found more rust through when I blasted the drivers side floor.
More repairs... but on the good side, that's it, done, finished sand blasting! Found and repaired every bit of rust on the truck to be found, until next time.
Even so, I'd say it's worth it.
After this patch, it's time to do final touch up's and go to color soon!

Been Awhile

This project has kinda stalled.
Time and funds both ran off together, go figure.
Anyway, here's a pic of the floor repair.
This project is getting temporarily mothballed once I get the cab in primer.
I need to get going on the blazer tub and have it ready for spring.

I know how that goes - luckily my project is past the money part, but getting free time has been difficult lately. After this weekend I surely will have more time - I better!

Primer in the Cab - Finally

Wow, been awhile...

Finally got the cab totally primed up, both inside and out.
Just finished the inside today - 4/22/05

Still need to dub around with the 400 grit but will shoot color soon.
Yeah, I keep saying that, don't I? (color)

Forget the dates on the pic, everybody knows I never set it anyway...

Stock/Factory/Original

This truck when I got it was very complete and original, so I figure it deserves to continue on the same way, stock. CPNE is grinning right now.

Two tone med olive/white with a tiny twist, nothing major but not exactly the way the factory did it either.

Very similar to the pic below but with the correct rear caps.

That truck is going to be killer. Looks like there is almost enough room in the back to haul the sweat you poured building it. Nice work!!!
