Re: Update on the 72 pig... (motorhome)

I recently bought the seats and console from a real nice 69 camper like yours. It had the same arrangement with the pass thru over the console. Beautiful interior! Great find!

Man..........My father works on RV's for a living after seeing this I am thinking that I want one.

I will bring it home update it and have my dad do the camper part.

Then it is on, going out to the lake in mine! I can see it now!!!!!!!Many a cold beer will be had! OK, enough day dreaming!

Nice find man! DO NOT PART THAT OUT!!!

Nice Rig,
I lived in one for a little while, while I was dating my wife. Enjoy it and darn glad she is running.

I had one with regular truck buckets, had the holes where the console used to be, but I think they removed it to get into the camper. The holes even went thru the carpet. I thought it might be in one of the compartments in the back, but never found it

That thing is killer too I just aquired a 67(in sig). Trying to find more info on them but it seems to be scarce. Get your title figured out? Its almost camping season! I don't get the center console either so I guess that makes it a crawl though cab instead of a walk thorugh

Still trying to get the title straightened out. I am surprised the console is not broken. I am guessing the last few owners didn't have kids...

Re: Update on the 72 pig... (motorhome)

All states must be different. I know here in KS if its an antique as long as it hasnt been reported stolen, and an inspection has been done to show the VIN has not been modified, 10 bucks gets you a title in the mail. You don't even need a bill of sale.

Re: Update on the 72 pig... (motorhome)

I'm not sure about that, been wondering myself as I plan on probably havin someone in the back of mine ocasionally, no sense staying in the boring ol pasenger seat when there is so much to do it the back. I know its not an issue in the big RVs but I don't know if these are different or not.

Re: Update on the 72 pig... (motorhome)

I just sold a set of buckets from that exact kind of camper for $700 on Ebay. No console, though. The backs had some weird plywood screwed onto them to cover the backs. Not as nice as the Blazer back covers.

Lippyp, as far as i know anyone can ride back there.
mclairmo, these also have the "cheesy" plywood backs on them. You would think the conversion company would have bought blazer seat backs.

You know what would be cool? Take out the console and buckets and stick a pair of swivel buckets in there so you can spin em around and have more seating while camping.

Re: Update on the 72 pig... (motorhome)

Sorry for the delayed response but you can find swivel bases to mount your existing seats on. Lots of van/truck conversion companies use them as well as marine applications like fishing boats. Just a thought......

Re: Update on the 72 pig... (motorhome)

Here is one of mine - drove it almost 5,000 miles throughout the west and midwest this summer. The pass-through aspect is very convenient. Great combo - a classic 72 Chev C30 with 402BB and 4 speed and a solid old camper with retro interior. Very comfortable for two - will sleep four.

The interior of your unit looks very good - well taken care of - and looks like there are some nice upgrades to more modern equipment (refrig and shower stall). The exterior of the camper lookls really good as well and must be leak free in order for the inside to be so nice. Have fun with it.

Re: Update on the 72 pig... (motorhome)

GMC406 your Red Dale looks realy great - they are well made. Had a big Red Dale pickup camper on a Dodge crew cab back in the 70s and it was a real yatch. Hauled us and the four girls all over the US in comfort and safety.

I think they were built in Longmont, CO near where mine (Mitchell) was built. What truck model is under yours?

I just cut my 72 chassis mount "Chinook" up with a sawzall due to it being a major project inside and finding out it was rotten under the bathroom, while taking a break I sat down and cruised Craigslist and found this one for a very good price... ran out and bought it the next day..
This one is sweet.. from northern California, always been under cover, and used fairly often... Its a Weekender Deluxe,, 108k miles, Cheyenne Super 30, Big block, AC, buckets and console.. brand new fridge, even had original carpets...
