Seatbelts: Why used when LMC has them?

I planned on keeping my factory lap belts in my 72. Is this not advisable?

my truck is a 68, no seat belt is required for me.... hehe.

on the otheehand, i will be installing full 3point seatbelts in my truck, becaus i plan on having to transport my daughter in my truck and her saftey is #1.

I wish someone made original looking modern shoulder/lap belts.I`d pay good money for those.I think Cheyenne Super Man does.

Well they came in on wednesday. Love LMCs shipping time. So here are the pictures of the belts and hardwear. I will get the instaltion pictures up tonight.

The three bolts are to small to use in the factory holes but the big flat washers wil be needed on the bottom of the floor for one of the holes that will need to be added.

And what needs the new hole? I assume the retractor eh?

These are the 3 point shoulder belts now. The first pictures above are of the lap belt and a few of the shoulder belt. Lap belt had a gray cover on the buckel and the shoulder belts have a black cover.

Yess all grade 8 bolts. And verry good looking bolt as well. Not like some of the cheep looking bolts you get lately with things.

You will need to add one hole to the cab floor. I used the original belt hole for the retractor but you need to add one hole infront of it for the othe part of the lap part of the belt. Remember these are THREE point now. Every point should have its own bolting point to the floor. I will get more picture of the belts in the cab up in a few. Only have one side done. About an hour of work. I will also show you the extra hardwear that I had to buy.

So the retractor side is bolted down on 2 areas?

That's one thing I did like about the S10 belts, one hole for each side. Though with my buckets, both had to be added since the retractor hit the gas tank on the driver's side, and the buckle side wasn't long enough to be mounted in the stock bolt holes.

Backed all holes with 1/8th steel plate and body washers. Solid

The instruction were so simple.....looked like a caveman drew them





The bolt hole in the cab did have the same threads as the supplied bolt for the top of the shoulder belt.



Here I added 2 grade 8 flat washers so the supplied lock washer didnt just dig into the cab and it didnt really lock down well on the shoulder of the bolt alone.



The ratchet part bolted to the factory hole. Dont know if it would clear the gas tank as I removed my leaky tank (notice stained carpet) and relocated it to the rear.



This is where I added the extra hole. Used the two supplied flat washers but used a grade 8, 1/2''x1 1/2'' long bolt with lock nut.

This is where the drivers and middle belt bolt together using the factory bolt hole.









This is the extra hardwear I bought. 6 of the bolt, 6 flat washers, 6 lock washers and 2 spring washers that I used on the top of the shoulder bolt where it bolts to the cab wall.
