Did you take it to Hartman? I was working on Yeller, I wanted to go. Man, that's a cool truck. Where'd you get it?

That's super cool, what's the story behind it having no miles?

Re: Took the 2k mile truck out today

Regardless of the miles on this great rare truck, its amazing how few base model trucks ever get restored on this site. Most get the typical drop and wide tires with mag or rally wheels or full wheelcovers. IMO, it seems the car culture is conditioned to think the more bling the better. It's refreshing to see a truck like this agian, a very under represented segment of automotive history.

Re: Took the 2k mile truck out today

This story is that it was ordered new by a woman that never really used it, she kept it in the garage. When she passed away it was to be passed down to a grandson. The grandson never got the truck, as he was in trouble with the law and the family wouldnt let him have it. They just let it sit all these years and never drove it. I have talked to the woman who actually inherited the truck and kept it from her son. It is from Texas.

Very nice!

It would be really hard for me not to drive it...understand wanting to keep miles off of it though.

Joesjunk,

Thanks for the additional front pic, but I'd like a shot head on, I'd like to see where the black line around the outer grill should be.....mine fell off probably 30 years ago....

Really? That might explain why I have no black paint left on the outer grill except around the headlights....thanks man!

One less thing to paint now.

Re: Took the 2k mile truck out today

Beautiful truck, I just don't understand saving it. It's only a virgin once, and it's 2000+ miles past that. Personally I'd document every part and piece on it, with multiple pictures and video, then either sell it or drive it regularly. Fact is, every part on that truck is 42 years old and not getting any younger. Vehicles were designed to be driven to keep grease and mechanical parts from seizing up. Wait too long and you'll have a petrified truck!

I define virgin different than you, I guess. That truck has factory paint, interior, engine - everything, and driving it often puts wear and tear on that. Its only stock once, and that what's I define as virgin.

By your definition, it was "deflowered" by simply pulling it out of the factory onto the transport truck.

With all that said, I'd definitely drive it as well, but it would be a sunny day affair. I wouldn't drive it in the rain, and certainly not in the snow. I would be less worried about keeping miles off of it than I would be keeping it stock.

Of course, it's Joe's truck, so he has to make that decision.

Re: Took the 2k mile truck out today

with the debate of whether or not it should be driven aside, that is one freaking cool truck. If it was mine I might be scared to drive it....maybe with a full perimeter police escort.

I sure don't mind putting a few miles on it. My biggest worry is someone crashing into it. You can never replace original paint!
