Re: 92 Sonoma
Im bout to try to round up enough scrap metal to buy me a fuel filter, air filter, and some lucas cleaner. Hopefully that will get the motor running smooth again. Also, I traded my 305 the I just got done putting back together for a set of 15in wheels and tires. Ill get pics of them once I get them. There are 2 reasons I traded, 1 he was my friend, and 2 I cant stand driving much more on the wheels I got lol.

I'm thinking that maybe Seafoam would be more effective in cleaning the fuel system. Scroll down and it shows how to clean the injectors, etc. http://www.seafoamsales.com/how-to-u...treatment.html

Re: 92 Sonoma
I went and bought the air and fuel filter and a bottle of lucas already. If the lucas doesnt help it, then I will try some sea foam. And actually I mis-judged the leak, I got to top the fluid off maybe every 2 days.

Re: 92 Sonoma
The slave will need replaced. If you have the 4.3, it will be very hard to bleed the air out of it.
Here is my '91 4.3 5 speed longbed, it's a great truck. It only cost me $30 to lower it. The springs were given to me, so I only had to buy the rear blocks and u-bolts.

Re: 92 Sonoma
Mine is a 2.8, but so far its been 2 days and I havent had to put fluid in it. I did get some different wheels on it though. Looks a lot better now, looks like a truck again IMO. I do have a question, I was having to use the truck to hual a motor to my friends house, and the truck shook so bad in 1st and 2nd that it was hard to shift. But when I have no weight in the bed, it rides smooth as a baby's bottom.

Re: 92 Sonoma
that shaking is the clutch contaminated by fluid from the leaking slave.

Re: 92 Sonoma
Ya I know the slave needs to be replaced, but I dont have the money for it just yet. I know its only like $30-40 but I wont have that for awhile. But I think some of the vibration is also the driveshaft, its very easy to move it around under truck.
On a side note, here are the new wheels.

Re: 92 Sonoma
What is a good muffler that will sound good on my 2.8? I dont want no crappy popping sound or anything like that, I want a nice tone for the truck. It will have to be a single in/dual out muffler, and I am keeping the cat on the truck. Even though I might do a high flow or something for it.

Re: 92 Sonoma
Replaced the clutch slave cylinder today. Found out exactly why the thing was leaking, the rubber seal thing that the rod goes through was wallered out.

Re: 92 Sonoma
I am taking the interior out this weekend to look at the rust on the floor boards, and the passenger side seat belt bolt stripped out on me. The one on the cab floor, now how to I go about removing it? Do I jsut drill it out and re tap it or something?

Re: 92 Sonoma
It's not boxed in, you could drill it out, then nut and bolt it. Also, you might be able to twist the nut off from underneath with vise grips or knock it off with a chisel or air chisel.

Re: 92 Sonoma
Well, got one problem fixed on the truck today. I hate the rubber mat with insalation underneath cause all it does is trap water. This truck had a little rust hole in it. I cut that out, made some patch panels, and welded it up.
The black out line is were I marked it to cut. After cutting. My second attempt at making patches. Welded up. Grinded down. And now some primer.

Re: 92 Sonoma
nice patch work, I have a 91 s10 2.8 . I had a mufflershop remove my cat and install a flowmaster I had from a junk car i got. sounds pretty decent and after the cat was removed my truck started running better. feels like it unleashed a pony or two. but it's still a 2.8 not to many gerbils can be unleashed without some major mods.

Re: 92 Sonoma
Thanks guys, this was my second ever attempt at making patch panels. Not to bad for a ball pin hammer and a bench vise.

Re: 92 Sonoma
You're getting pretty good at rust repair. Is that the only spot you have to deal with?

Re: 92 Sonoma
Yup, its the only rust hole anyway. There are to more holes, one under the seat and on in the roof. The one under the seat had a rubber hose with some wire running through it and the one in the roof is the CB antena. I plan to patch them when I get from Texas.

Re: 92 Sonoma
How hard is a 3.4 swap on these trucks? I just got a complete running 3.4 and 5 speed out of a 95 camero from a friend of mine.
