Re: 5.3 into 72
The stock switches are normally open until the brake is depressed and then the switch is closed sending 12VDC to the tail lights Via the steering column turn signals

Re: 5.3 into 72
I should clarify what I meant on the brake switch. I am referring to the bp harness hooking into my brake switch for the torque converter lockup. There are two wires in the bp harness.

Re: 5.3 into 72
Are the wires labeled? On a Gen4 engine, its usually one wire and is tapped into the wire on the brake switch that is hot when the brake pedal is depresses, the opposite of the older Gen 3 engines that use the dual contact switch.

Re: 5.3 into 72
Finally got her running today! Still have to rap up the permanent fuel pump wiring, mounting the electric fans, routing the headlight wiring, mounting the bed and doing the fuel fill. I'd like to get the exhaust done this weekend.

Re: 5.3 into 72
There was a little nub there for a vacuum nose, I used it for my A/C vacuum attachment on my 78.
If you do not need a sorce for vacuum why can't you just plug it, maybe a screw with silicone on it

Re: 5.3 into 72
Thanks guys. I think I'll attempt to plug it today and see what happens. When I covered it yesterday it created a whistle. It could've been leaking a small amount of air to cause that though. We shall see

Re: 5.3 into 72
You could always place a vacuum gauge on that fitting

Re: 5.3 into 72
Took the truck out on its first drive today. All seems fine except the trains starts out in 3rd gear and not first. I still have to troubleshoot this as its a bit of a headache

Re: 5.3 into 72
I ended up mailing BP my ECM and TCM today. I tried to pull codes with a scan tool today and the scanner powers up but wouldn't link. Bill said the TCM is the first link up for the scan tool and he seems to think the place that sold me the setup may have just sent a non matching TCM. I hope this is the case. I had constant and switched power at the TCM connector.

Re: 5.3 into 72
What fuse/ relay center did you use.? On my 2005 5.3 , I used under hood fuse box for connecting stock harness. Unfortunately the tranny got its power from the interior fuse center on that model truck. Found out the hard way it wouldn't shift. Did some digging to find that out. God luck. Jim

Re: 5.3 into 72
Have a small update. I may have my issue figured out. There was a communication wire from the ECM into the TCM that wasn't making contact to the TCM. Just waiting to get it all hooked back up to test it. Then it's just a matter of having my exhaust system built and she should be road worthy. I have plans to take her to the rod run in gatlinburg tn this September.
