Re: Check this out - SCAM???

I live in Traverse City, so maybe I will see if I can go take a look at this "truck".

I just e-mailed the seller through Ebay and got this message:
"Note: The user you are contacting is registered on another eBay site and may speak a different language. Your message will be sent exactly as typed below."

Do ya think that auction is legit???

yes, the person who appears to be the real owner said that he was cancelling and relisting the auction in order to help clear up things.

Hey check this out, I personally called Eddie, from the phone number listed. The add with the phone numbers is legit and the other is scamming. I told him about our conversation here at the this site and he thanked me and said that he has contacted fleabay and they have done nothing about his pics being pirated from another site he had posted it at. Call him yourself. He may just sell it to you. Note that the incorrect listing states it is a c-10. No such thing as a c-10 gmc and especially a 3/4 ton GMC. Let's help real seller out. David

Re: Check this out - SCAM???

I asked about it in the post with the phone numbers this is the reply " Yeah, I've been tipped off by like 10 other buyers. I listed on cars.com as well and the guy copied my listing and stole the pictures off of the site where I did the listing. IF you look at the truck he has listed its not what hes saying it is. Hes advertising it as a C-10, and I think hes just trying to screw some people out of there money. He also doesnt have a VIN listed for the truck, I do. I've reported him to ebay, If you'd like to do the same feel free: ) Thanks for the heads up. My listing is the real one and I can prove it. You have to bid on the one I have in california or you might be bidding on one that doesnt exist. Good luck man, sorry about the confusion "

Re: Check this out - SCAM???

someone should bid something crazy like $200,000...so no one gets ripped off...hey anyone want to see how high we can get the price of the fake post?....when you post something for sale on ebay how does ebay charge you? how much are the fees for a truck posting?

Re: Check this out - SCAM???

Ebay charges a percentage of what it sells for, regardless if the seller gets paid ebay gets their fees. I had a non-payment of some taillights and ebay didn't care they still got paid the fees for sale and listing.

So if you bid $200,000 he would have to pay a percentage, but most likely he will not follow through and ebay will just ban him, he will get a new id and be back at it again.

The real seller should report it to the police....

Hey David Why don't you talk him into paying the $25 on here and sell it to a member? Seems as though his chances of selling it on Ebay have gone down hill with the "competition twin".

I don't guess it is on me. I was just follow'n up on the that crazy double flea bay sale. Remember, buyer BEWARE. Scam sellers won't tell you this but you have to slow down ask questions and be AWARE. I handed my seller 375 bucks and bought mine. I don't really like to play online money games. Don't get me wrong. I have made some honest trransactions paid in full very fast. Yes I did sell a slot car for 125 bucks. I recieved a perfect score. That is what I am talking about. PM the gentleman that posted pics in live time and get that poor truck to the body shop and post some crazy pics of how youfixed it up and..................................

Re: Check this out - SCAM???

I already suggested that he post on here, and that they contact the police or at least threaten the other person that they would....
They seem like good people. Too bad the scammer is hurting his sale on this...I was kidding about the 200,000 bid...but it would stop him from scaming someone on the deal. I just don't want to be the person to bid the 200,000

Re: Check this out - SCAM???

people will start a bid on an item and put it up for auction themselves. what ever gets bidded on their auction; they will bid the same or under. so if the win then they have already sold it for more than they bought it. most of the times they do it on smaller items(not vehicles) but I guess they thought they could get away with it.

Re: Check this out - SCAM???

the CA guy has a second listing for the same truck and on it is a paragraph stating the first guy stole his pic`s and explained the 2 different area codes on his auction phone #`s. I told him to report the stealer of pic`s auction as a scam. but the scam guy wants cash in person? weird.

Re: Check this out - SCAM???

Hey guys this is Eddie. I'm the lister of the GMC in simi valley, CA. I've been watching the message board since Dave called me and have just been waiting to be allowed to post. Thanks to those of you who went out of your way to verify some of the info. To the rest of you... well I don't have much to say. It's real easy to speculate and talk crap but only one of you actually called the numbers I posted and only a couple actually e-mailed me. At any rate, I'd be glad to provide any amount of proof that the truck is mine. I have notified eBay on numerous occasions as well as the other seller and have received no responses from either. If any of you have any more questions or comments please feel free to contact me personally. Oh, and on a side note... I painted the big block blue because i felt like it. Thanks for asking.

Re: Check this out - SCAM???

I also contacted Ebay about it, and have got no response. I was browsing around looking at trucks and found that the same truck was listed on 2 auctions. It is unfortunate that this happened to you. We've seen a member's truck on here get listed in a scam auction also. It's a shame that someone would do something that like.I am glad someone here verified that the truck was your's, and I meant nothing personal against you posting this here. I was simply trying to protect my fellow board members from a fraudulent transaction.

That is exactly what goes on here - it's like having a bunch of big brothers keeping an eye out for you. And again, truck or no, you're welcoem to hang around.

Herb

BTW - good luck on the sale. I hope the scam doesn't muck it up for you.
