Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Guy's I gotta tell you, if you have never been to a offroad park- GO! I went for the first time today, and it was awesome. Everything from mild to wild! My bud John took my daughter and I on a trip to remember. I will admit most of the trails are set up for Jeep type wheelers, but man they have it all! John even let me drive the jeep out of one of the easier trails. There was a couple custom buggies there that kicked some serious trail a**. I'll post up some pic's!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Worked on the K5 this afternoon. 5 gallons of 92 octane fuel added to the tank, pulled all 8 spark plugs and shot some wd40 in the cylinders. Hit the key and it rolled over good, but no fire. It has been 10 years since it has been started. Had the wife hit the ignition while I dribbled some gas into the carb and it started to fire up! Kept at it a while and no go, would fire with gas in carb but never stayed running. Decided to pull the fuel line off at the fuel filter-right before the carb, and no fuel there. So,I pulled the fuel pump off and started to replace it. The hard fuel line coming out of the pump was siezed into the pump, so I removed all of it and will pick up new lines tommorrow.Got a couple pic's!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
I gotta tell ya, I have the best wife in the whole world! She pushed me to yank that fuel pump today, and handed me wrenches every time I needed one! Back at it tommorrow after I pick up some hard fuel line, and etc! Going out right now to clean up the rear upper u-bolt plates and 4.5" shackles, and spray them with black primer!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Got parts all painted. All I need is u-bolts for the rear and I am going to be 1-ton! Still looking at the yoke setup, want the strongest u-joint yoke/spline combo I can set up. I will post up some pic's asap of my rear u-bolt upper plates and the 4.5" crosstied shackles, oh, and the greasable bolts! Anybody got any pic's of their H.D. yoke setup?

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Yes! The beast lives again! My partner from work came down this afternoon to help me with the fuel pump and etc. We got the pump on and tried to get it started, but no go. It would run when we filled the carb bowl with fuel, but then die. This guy knows his chevy motors! He runs a camero drag racer down at the motorplex every weekend, and he wasen't leaving till it was sitting there idiling! Figured out all the rubber fuel lines were cracked, and sucking air, so the fuel pump would not pull fuel from the tank. Changed some rubber lines around and yea, she fired right up! Drove it up to my bud's garage and dropped off his tube bender I had borrowed to bend the hard lines to the fuel pump, sweet! Kid's were loving it! Step number 1!

Thank's a lot! It was great to hear that baby roar again! Got a long way to go, but one step at a time! Still looking for 1 ton advise on the yoke/u-joint setup. So cool to drive the K5 again, if only for a minute!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Right on Burt! Be sure to take some pic's! I gotta pick up a new battery so I dont have to charge this one to start the K5. Probably pick up one I can throw in my boat eventually, when I get a red top or the like later. Got one super swamper going low, looks like I better go fill up my air tank! Not bad though, 10 years, 1 tire just going low, other three still look good. I mounted these tires myself by hand and must have done it right! Gonna start taking more pic's soon before I start ripping it apart!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Hey, my brain is working overtime again. Need to decide on my tire/wheel combo. I was thinking I wanted the Goodyear Wrangler MT/R, in 40-13.50R17. Was thinking of the Trailready beadlocks in 17x10 size. Contacted Trailready and no go on the 10" wheels, only 8.5. Can't get the 10" anymore. Started looking at Allied's Black Rock 8's. They make them in a 17x9.5, with a 3.5 backspacing. That sounds like it will work here, and I like the look and price. Anybody running these on 8 lug 1 tons? Any feedback here would be great, need to make a decision. Allieds price is better, gonna need 5 of them, so looking at cost's also. Currently running the TSL SS's in 39.5x 15x15 size on my stock setup. When I swap in the 1 tons, want to go with the 17'' wheels, and 40" or 41" rubber. Anybody got any help here?

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Wow, just can't stop. Ordered up a guardsman yoke saver for the 14 bolt, and new weld on spring perches also. Anybody running a driveline e-brake setup? I really like that idea, but $$ are holding me back here. Researching the beadlock wheels, and tire combo, oh, more $$ !

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
The driveline brake sure looks like a good option but yep, it seems expensive. Those MT/R's your considering would sure be nice - I had a pair on my Yukon a few years ago and really like them.

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Picked up my used set of 8 lug wheels today. Just stock GM wheels with the chrome rings. P265/75R16 BF Goodrich rugged trail t/a's on them. Decent enough rubber for now, tell I can afford new. At least I will be able to drive it in and out of the shop after the axles are in. Price was right and can sell them easy when I'm done with them. Gonna clean them and spray black, so I'll take some pic's!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Thank's YJ! My twin girls did real well in the meet today. I did get one thing done after the meet. I took the temp wheels and tires to the car wash and cleaned them up good, ready to spray the wheels tommorrow. Two of the tires are in real good shape, and two are worn, but useable. I'll put the good ones on the front and the worn ones on the rear! I will take pic's tommorrow and post them up here! Got word on my rear disc conversion kit, and it's coming soon!
