I received an email from ELJR67 and am comfortable for the time being with this FS thread. It is now unlocked and open for business.

Ten grills, retailing for about $1K each, is not a common find. Good luck with you sales.
They do exist..Underall the dust in the attic..Had them 14 years.Just a hobby..something to keep me out of the bars..

Re: 71-72 ORIGINAL GM Grilles/still in box

If there really is a serious buyer, I would be glad to meet up with the seller to take a look at the grills. I would love to do it for free, but gas is too expensive and I would need a little bit to get me there and back. Let me know if anyone is seriously interested.

Just post a pic of these and all the BS between everybody will be solved. If you want send me the pics and I will post them for you. dawgsfan227@sc.rr.com You will find that if you are trying to sell something on this site you will have a hard time doing so unless you post some pics of your product.

Thanks PT

I personally would not purchase a high $$ item such as these without a pic.

Agreed, 2 weeks ago when this thread was first started I was ready to buy one that night, but seeing as how this guy doesn't know how to conduct business it's not gonna happen. I'm not sending 600 bucks to anyone without first seeing what i'm getting. Opening a box doesn't decrease the value, people want to see what they are getting.

Re: 71-72 ORIGINAL GM Grilles/still in box

hmm... with the tense reaction and anticipation here you'd think poor ELJR was selling the last ten ladies on earth! You ever think the guy might have a job? Maybe he has a life full of socializing without a keyboard in front of him! So sit back and surf on over to RussianBrides or something, I'm sure they've plenty of ladies ready to be shipped to any zip code you want!

btw ELJR, how much for all ten? ;-)

I am still giving ELJR67 the benifit of the doubt. He puts in a lot of hours at his job plus we need to remember...some including myself have problems posting pics. I still have 70cstjr help me in posting pics but I will soon have the ability to do so. JMHO But I agree pics would resolve all these concerns.

It will be hard if not impossible to get your money out of these without opening the boxes up for inspection. GM was not cranking out parts for show trucks and I have personaly seen several new old stock grills come out of their original (shipping) boxes with flaws (scratches, dents & dull spots in finish).

On another note, if it were me and only if you are in a position financially, I would just keep them up there under all that 14 year old dust for another 20 years. Look at it this way, back in 72 replacement cost at the GM parts counter was only $56.00 for p/n 3990701 (outer) and $21.55 for p/n 3990700 (inner), can you imagine what kind of dollar figure these will be trading hands at in thirty years. Good luck on your investment.

Re: 71-72 ORIGINAL GM Grilles/still in box

I sent this guy a pm about the grilles the first time I saw them listed and have heard nothing from him. You folks are right about new outer grilles coming out of the box with defects. I ordered one through my local chevy dealer and when I took it out of the sealed gm box it looked like someone shot it with a bb gun.LOL They ordered another one for me and it had worst flaws then the first one did. The guy at the dealership told me that the warehouse where he got the grilles refused to take them back and he was afraid to order any more of them. This was a gm warehouse by the way.

Re: 71-72 ORIGINAL GM Grilles/still in box

The gm grilles do/can come with flaws. They still look pretty good if you get a good one. Just for info, we can look up any GM vintage part and find the remaining quantities left. All we need is the part number and we can check its availability. This includes all makes ford,gm,chrysler etc. Just give us the part number but please don't expect an immediate response. This does not include any stock that may be located at a particular dealer.
or email us at mikesbumpandgrind@earthlink.net

Re: 71-72 ORIGINAL GM Grilles/still in box

It's not like he is "doing business" on the internet. This isn't his online store. He had some extra parts for sale and thought he'd give us a chance here on the forums. Could possibly have a job in a very remote area where there is no internet access.
He'll post when he's ready, and after the way people here have been judging him, I wouldn't be surprised if he just said to hell with it and put them on ebay.
