Whose firewall insulation did you use??
I used Q-pads sound deadener and a black velvet material lightly spray glued over the pads. Been down the road of trying aftermarket firewall pads and was disappointed with the fit. We are going to try out one from classic industries in my dad's truck and if it doesn't work out it will get the custom job as well.

Re: 1972 k30

This is quite the build! Beautiful truck in progress. I'm also envious of you getting to work on it with your dad and spend your Saturdays together at the shop. Not as envious of the Ford clowns, haha, but actually that's pretty cool. I just ran across this USA manufacturer in another thread. They don't sell direct, but jegs seems to have decent prices on them. Saved to my info list and thought I would drop it here for your firewall insulation.

Re: 1972 k30

Paint on the body is all wrapped up I have a ton of small parts to send off to powder coat and we'll be waiting on engine parts for 6-10 weeks but that will give me some time to finish some smaller tasks. A goodie package from summit came in and kicked me into gear on painting the masking and painting the engine block. Going to try and wrap up what I can with the interior, trim and wiring while we wait on the rotating assembly and brodix heads.

Re: 1972 k30

Didn't do much in June on the truck, apprentice and I caught the covids then had to make up a bunch of jobs afterwards. Got some parts back from the powder coater and engine master Steve put together the short block. He had to do a little clearancing for the #7 and #8 rods to clear the block. He replied with that's stroker sh#t. As soon as the heads and the sniper show up we can start rocking and rolling putting the pieces together.

Re: 1972 k30

Engine jedi master Steve finished assembling the engine with the brodix heads. CFM's cross member works with stock BBC exhaust manifolds but not with headers so we are going to redesign and build another for sbc/BBC 4x4's. On a second note the first designed cross member works awesome for a LS with LS3 exhaust manifolds and clears the stock ac comp. Just for research I put a 5.3 in to see how the design works and I have to say it works great. More to come once we get the new cross member in.

Sweet dude! I've been wondering what you've been up to when I drive by the shop on my way to my sister's in Longmont.

Thanks Richard, just went through your build tread and wow! You have an awesome truck you're building. Love the custom work on the track arm and shock towers. I was really thinking of doing the 4link setup up front but chickened out on it but after seeing your truck the wheels are spinning again.

Clay, if your up north and have some free time hit me up. It seems these days I'm always at the shop either wiring the new units they are building or tinkering in mine. I should just set up a cot there My old man's new build is coming up soon too get wiring, exhaust and few odds & ends.

Thank you for the kind words. What a blessing to do this with your dad.
Would give all I could for that, miss dad every day. Subscribed and will be following along to see more.

Re: 1972 k30

Time for a update... Holley just gave me the run around with shipping the terminator X and after waiting months I ended up going with a quick fuel carburetor and a mega squirt trans controller. Also changed out the flat tappet cam to a roller cam, built the exhaust with some electric cut outs and finished most of the plumbing.

Today was a big day that we married the cab to the chassis I'm thankful I had an extra firewall section for the mock up because everything fit without hitting when we lowered the cab on. Next is making some adjustments for the suspension now that most of the weight is on the chassis. Getting closer one step at a time

Re: 1972 k30

Coming along very well I would say….

Looks like you have put your heart and soul into this truck just like everything you do.

Looks awesome Curt, congrats on getting to this point……I know its been a lot of trial and error but it looks like you’re winning.

P.S. found the shoulder belts we talked about took awhile to locate them as you know I can always locate my parts easily without even looking that hard….……NOT!!!

I need to stop putting parts in unlabeled boxes.
