Those glovebox emblems get kicked often by passenger's boots. They often get repaced.

That is a stunning stocker!

Had to be a 1971 based on the anti-diesel solenoid on the drivers side of the carb. Looks very much un-molested.

I am starting to think maybe the 72 glove box door emblem was used in some 71s also. Not the first time i have seen a 71 door with that emblem on it. Maybe it was a plant thing....

Re: Who wants to play, HOW...STOCK...IS SHE? (pictures)

From What I can tell Its all pretty much stock and Original. Altenator, Fuel Line, Tires, plug wires and a few other nick nacks that are changed with general maint. The Glove box Badge looks like it was a Manufacture replacement after someone "Accidently" knocked it off at some point. Looks like someone bought this truck and parked it in a garage or something. Very Nice truck!!
I am so Jealous!!

Not sure how many 71's were made, but it looks like his could be a later production truck via the vin number, doesn't it? I wonder if they ran out of the 71 style emblems late in the run and started to use the 72 style?

Wouldn't be too much of a stretch.

The arms are shorter. The top arm mounts flat (not bent down) to the flat spot near the window at the top of the door. The two lower arms mount above the upper moulding. Those are either 69/70s or replacements.

Re: Who wants to play, HOW...STOCK...IS SHE? (pictures)

The solenoid on the carb also holds the carb open when driving, but closes it when the engine is off to prevent dieseling. By closing the bottom butterfly on the carb, the engine is starved of oxygen and cannot run-on after the ignition is turned off.

the PO said that it was repaint in the early 80's by the local chevy dealership back East, but the paint has held up well. There are quite a few chips and nicks thou.

The people on this site really know their trucks. I have learned more about these vehicles in the last couple of months then I ever could have any where else!

Thanks again for all the insist and knowledge.

I've seen that same oil cap on alot of '71 and '72 trucks, but never on cars. I was under the impression they were original.

That's true Brian, and you probably had no idea the roasting you were setting yourself up for by asking such a question in your subject line. There are members with encyclopaedic amounts of knowledge on these trucks who devour supposed survivors for breakfast and spit out pretenders to the throne.
The amount of praise your truck has garnered is impressive and well deserved IMHO.
The Ochre colour is a personal favourite of mine because it is such a nostalgic reminder of the era these trucks came from.
She's a beaut.
Oh by the way, speaking of gurus...if Special-K says it's so, it's so.

Re: Who wants to play, HOW...STOCK...IS SHE? (pictures)

I love to see a truck in original condition after all these tears. This one's a beaut! I didn't enjoy pointing out the mirror thing. I hate bursting bubbles. Heck,it's just mirrors and that small area could be repainted after installing the correct one and repairing the holes. And GM didn't make a bad color IMO. Whatever color they came was alright for me. I never changed color on a truck I painted, unless it was a custom built from pieces. These trucks would make any color look good.
