so whats up with the different color door jams, fire wall, and dash? is this another GMC color differance thing like the black glove box door or his way to make it look cool?

The motors worth 13 grand. So with parts and labor, maybe 30? I personally like a balance between stock and complete nonsense. Be able to work on it without making specialty parts, be able to throw stuff in the bed and be ok with it. (Line-X) I do like the farm truck though, looks more like a sea-foam to me though. :P And yeah, Copperhead would have been a lot nicer if they tubbed it so the thing would hook up.

I just may be a little partial on this one si I dont know if my vote counts. Copperhead in second, original looking farm truck 1st.
how about a medium green long box lowered 6 inches with a injected 472 caddy & some tucked & stuffed fat tires out back. throw in a spray in bed liner & also a hidden class 5 hitch. does this sound cool?

I pick "mean farm green" over copperhead. I have a question for you GMC folks though.... is that big thing on the rear of the fender the emblem for GMC's??? It seems kinda big.... anyone have close-ups on it???

i wouldnt say it doesnt haul anything .... it hauls ass pretty well i thought. As for that farm truck ..... i guess you could load up some cow poo or hay if thats your thing but to make the comparison to copperhead is .... well ..... .

Let me step in before this thread gets out of hand and turns into a pissing match.

Sub-section B: This thread was in no way intended to be a direct comparision of Copperhead Vs. Green Farm Truck. If you re-read my original post, I used Copperhead in the subject line only, no further mention was made and no comparisons were made whatsoever. To be honest, the only reason I used Copperhead in the subject line was to garner attention. How many of you would have read
this thread if I had entitled it "Marginally restored over-priced green 67 GMC 3/4 ton on ebay". I simply leveraged Copperhead the same way "Trucks" does, as a way to get attention. You see that is exactly what Copperhead's function is, a showcase for gee-whiz products and technology. It is well executed and does it's job well. But I digress...


The intent of my post was to showcase another school of thought that a few of us of us on this board have. That is we look at these trucks and picture what was, not what could be. We aspire to maintain these trucks in their original state, often times for nostalgic or historic purposes. Not because we're unwilling to join the 21st century. I've seen many instances where a vehicle has evoked warm memories of visits to Grampa's farm, or long family vacations in the ole' Chevrolet. There's nothing or about that, no more than there
is in the school of thought that dictates, "modify everthing, leave nothing alone". People who consider stock "boring" or "easy" probably don't have enough life experience to appreciate it. Additonally, not everything has it's true worth in $$ spent on it alone. Something to consider.


Now to address a few comments directly:

Nowhere did I hold the "Green Farm Truck" up as the epitomy of concours restorations. As crazy as it may sound it is my ideal however. If you all want to hold me up for ridicle, so be it. I like the color, I like 67 small windows, I like GMC's, I like longbed 3/4 tons, I like stock, and I like the uniqueness of the drivetrain, and I like the fact that it can still be used as a work truck. As for the price, hell no, I don't think it's worth the buy it now price.

As for the door jambs matching the interior color, I've seen that before, but only on 67's for some reason. The truck appears to have a fawn interior. It is my belief that the cab would have been painted in it's finished interior color, then

assembled and the exterior color painted on the panels. I could be wrong but that is my impression. Again, the pics aren't the best and it could have a paint brush paint job for all I know.

Copperhead, though not the real subject of this post, needs to be addressed because of the direction my post has taken. It is a well-executed vehicle whose purpose is to showcase new products and their application as well as to promote the show "Trucks". It does it's job well as I've mentioned. It is not a practical truck IMO. That's not to say I don't like it, but it is so far removed from my ideal that I really don't pay it much attention. I also believe that not everything needs to be practical so it definately has it's place.

As for the comment. That simply re-enforces my initial impression of said individual based upon one of his first posts on the board. That topic has been well covered, so no need to rehash it here. Suffice to say, given my lack of respect based upon comments made in that post, this comment was laughable and expected.

yeah, I'd hit that black one. That is almost exaclty what I'm wanting to do with mine, except in blue, and with a 292...same overall style though

BTW, what's up with the 'chromed" headlights? that's pretty spiffy lookin'

Junk Yard, let me clarify myself. When I said ALMOST perfect restoration, what I meant was that there were some obvious flaws, things that you and others have noticed about the green farm truck. I capitalized ALMOST because I knew that someone would come back at my idea of a nice truck with comments like, "THIS IS WHAT YOU CALL AN ALMOST "PERFECTLY RESTORED VEHICAL". Thank you for proving me correct.

Completely off the subject, since we have each other's attention currently, WHY DO YOU HAVE TO YELL ALL THE TIME?

btw, the black truck IS a beautiful automobile, even if you can't call it "perfectly resored" with the color of the tint on the windows and the late model rally wheels.

another bb too. The one thing i noticed about that black truck though is that he bent the panhard bar around the exhaust and it doesnt look like its dropped enough to not be able to route the exhaust around the normal panhard bar unless he bent it to straighten the rear end back out but it seems a funny way to go about doing that on such a heavily invested project.

It's not a comparison of vehicals (sic), it's a contrast in schools of thought/ideals. Both of which have merits, though for some reason you aren't able to acknowledge it. The black one does settle in as a happy medium between the two.

I agree 100% and for the record, I think we are of the same school of thought on vehicles. I simply get a bit defensive when my perfectly legitimate opinions are laughed at.
