Very nice truck. If your not going to leave it stock, you might want to convert to power brakes.
Change oil, complete tune-up. Check all the fluids(axles, tranny TC), brakes, ball joints, tie rods. Also, everything they do in PA for an inspection.

man that is a very clean lloking truck , i really really like the looks of it , and that color , i havnt seen to many that color around in my area ,, id fix the rocker and do what ever else you want to , i strongly agre on upgrading to the power brakes, i think a nice 4 inch jack to her and a not to agressive set of bfg's or some swamper trxus with a clean set of wheels would really make her stand out

to upgrade to power brakes you will need a booster, the bracket that goes behind it, and the rod that goes thru the firewall.

don't panic, theirs alot of experts here on the board to walk you through any upgrade you want to do, I would do a mechanical inspection on it to make sure it is safe, and all your fluid levels are up, and then just enjoy it for awhile before you start all your upgrades, I got to say again man I love that color hope you keep it that way. I think that is a good price for that truck too

Don't forget to flush brake fluid.
It is the most neglected fluid most guys don't change.

power brakes

if your brake system works well [ no pulling or wandering when you apply them hard] just do what i did to my 70, just add the booster and have power drum brakes. mine work very good. stops on a dime straight as an arrow. just my .02

Thanks for all the advise. One quick question, I am going to probably run 10w30 in her but I have no clue as to what filter it has on it or what fits a 307. Any ideas?

Keep it all stock man your crazy she is so close!
Just get meater tires that fit stock height there are tonns of them!
Take each part off one at a time and clean and restore it if you get bored!LOL
I think it is safe to be said true that the filter would be one of such that fits the SB Chevy. Long or Short!

I think that a 307 had a canister type filter. Also remember that a 307 had a spark plug similar to those used in the bigger trucks (and different than a 350 runs)

Good luck

Well with all this talk about keeping her stock since she is so close already, I am starting to think that this might be the way to go.

However I would like to uprade a few things..... the power brakes must happen, does someone sell the things I need to convert or do I have to go to the junk yard?

I also need to redo the wood bed who makes a good kit for that?

Thanks,

Gee thanks, glad you like her. I am thinking of geting ralley wheels and some nice 33" 12.5" tires, no lift kit anymore....just isn't worth messing wiht the original look.

Would a new carb and some headers be cheating too much....? If its not what carb 2 or 4 barrel?

4 barrel and headers would be within the realm of "close enough to stock" Performance will improve, although gas mileage may suffer, (but only because of the temptation to open all 4 barrels
Sorry if I drooled too much on my earlier post. Truckboy without Truck at the present time. Just call me No-Truck boy

Sorry to hear your truckless right now.... I too was that way till now. Your day will come!

Yeah but with a 4 barrel Ill need a new intake right? So maybe a new holley 2 barrel, or one of the jet performance ones where they mod the holley to make it perform better.

Screw gas mileage, light em up!!!!

Sweet! I didn't know that there were any rust free trucks left on the east coast.

Vendors

All of your upgrade questions can be answered by the vendors on the site. Right where you log in you will see them on the left side. Good score by the way. I am trying myself to keep one running and work on the other one on the weekends. But watch out this becomes an obsession. Wootdog
