stick with the HEI, ask questions here and on the electrical section, and someone will be able to figure it out

If you are using the same yellow wire for positive as went to your coil, that is part of your problem. It is a resistance wire. You have to run a completely new IGN wire to the HEI for it to get enough voltage. Just run it from a key on hot wire. Not real sure how the Accel coil is wired, but for a GM HEI, the coil is powered from the dizzy.

Re: 71 K5 Build

I realized that my Accel Dizzy is missing the control module and the wiring harness that it plugs into :/

I didn't really know much about HEI Distributors when I bought it... I guess I learn some things the hard way. Not sure if I should go to pull apart and get the parts I need to fix it??? I'm startin' to think I'd rather just get a new MSD HEI distributor.

After going through my carb half a dozen times and removing and reinstalling the Accel dizzy numerous times I'm thinkin' I should stop buyin' used car parts on craigslist :P it's a real PITA sometimes :/ not really worth the money I save.
