mekdad, If you can get a head to wiggle I think the real money maker would be a "Bobble Head Andy"
I'm sure there's a pic of our own LHM to use for a pattern.

Re: Idea's on stuff to mill or turn
Mahanian does a radio piece to cover up the butchered slots in these trucks. It's trick-looking...and I have one. Along that line, what about some billet surround/nuts for the headlight/wiper/chokes, that matched his radio surround?
In a different vein, an engine-turned applique to fit the dash panel and also the glove box door would be nice. What I mean would be an engine-turned equivalent of the woodgrain piece that the CST's use. Just a piece of self-adhesive aluminum/stainless, thin, that would fit around the stock guage bezels.

Re: Idea's on stuff to mill or turn
how much for a "8-383" emblem? also do you think that you could make a 383 emblem that would go on a 77 chevy grille?

Re: Idea's on stuff to mill or turn
I see you are using MasterCam for your stuff. What kind of machines do you have? I have a couple of Fadals and am looking at Mori-Seiki and then a big five axis machine. I have been doing the Billet Dash Panels for aftermarket gauges for a while. Good luck with your projects

Re: Idea's on stuff to mill or turn
Ignition switch bezel?
I am kinda interested in the center caps as well. If I remember right the replacement caps from American Racing are about $12-15 a piece. Here is the problem with their caps. They are made of something other than the aluminium the wheels are made of, and the look bad very soon after the install. I will be glad to shoot a pic or two the the caps on my DD to show you. Yes your caps are a lot, BUT if the look as good as the wheels ------- I got what I paid for !!! |

Re: Idea's on stuff to mill or turn
That would be a hard one because of the tapered edges of the vertical bars. Not saying it cant be done but it would take a lot of machine time and little steps.

Re: Idea's on stuff to mill or turn
Very interested in the relocated R/V mirror mount. Beyond that here are some other things I'd be interested in;
a. Hood Latch Release and Tailgate Latch handles b. Adjustable mount and case for my 1st. gen. Ipod Nano and/or cell phone. c. Nifty pull handle for G-box door. d. Tailgate arms. e. Form-Fit caps for the "ridges" in a steel bed floor. f. Trick billet sill plates g. Dome light / Cargo lamp base.

Re: Idea's on stuff to mill or turn
No,i was thinking of blueprinting the orignal 67/68 bowtie so it fits like stock on the 67/68 chevy grille. The face of the bowtie would have the GMC letters, maybe the G and the C would lean to the right to match the shape of the bowtie, kind of like the nascar #s I can see it but i just cant type for s#it to express my idea.

Re: Idea's on stuff to mill or turn
I would be interested in the dash 7 hole with a different size center hole because I cant find the 3 3/8 fuel gauge.

Re: Idea's on stuff to mill or turn
Be careful using GM trademarked items such as the bowtie shape, GMC or Chevy name.
They WILL ask for royalties and most times not in a nice manner. |
