Re: Look at this custom Dash Cluster !
I wonder how that clock face is going to hold up in the sun. If for some reason it does not age well you might consider going to your local sign shop and have them run it in vinyl with UV stable products.
Cluster looks great. |

Re: Look at this custom Dash Cluster !
I had that thought, but didn't know if they could match the "AutoMeter" font. Thought about just painting the housing "bucket" of the clock to match the Autometer Phantoms and just applying vinyl numbers & tic-marks, but the cost involved might have gotten above & beyond.

Re: Look at this custom Dash Cluster !
High beam is above the "12" of the clock. There is NO hole. A blue LED makes a perfect 1/8" dot when it is active.
Since there is no longer a printed circuit on the back, I took the factory turn signal bulb holders and modify them to have wires instead of contacts. Bulbs install the same as original. I use the original cardboard tubes and green caps, too. They work exactly as original, except for how they get power.

Re: Look at this custom Dash Cluster !
I was afraid the cardboard would'nt hold the bulb on it's own..
that pic of my gauges blows . I still have to install turn sign leds and the glass infront of the top three gauges.. the gauges are autometer ole schhol rod gauges.. if I didn't get them for sush a deal the bigger monster style pro comp . would've fit the top better.. oh well.. bought these stuff in2004 and just getting to it.. where you get the leds .. I can always use another surplier.. I've been use'n superbrightleds.com |

Re: Look at this custom Dash Cluster !
At least the way I do it, the cardboard does nothing but keep light from spilling out into the cluster. It's just a tunnel. The original metal backing still holds the bulbs, which still twist & lock into place like the original design.
Superbright is where I get mine, too. Sometimes V-LEDs HERE or autolumination HERE ...but mostly at SuperBright

Re: Look at this custom Dash Cluster !
That is just awesome.. I was commenting on another thread how cool it is. I would love to do something similar to my '71. If you ever start producing these, I'd be interested depending on price.

Re: Look at this custom Dash Cluster !
Putter Please send me a price for the complete unit, I would probably come down and pick it up not trusting shipping such a work of art.
Also look at some sign shops they can take a photo and print it on the vinyl not having to pick fonts. Just an idea West

Re: Look at this custom Dash Cluster !
Guys, don't contemplate it too hard!
Us people that do vinyl graphics can do that (: Depending on the printer and how hard the designer wants to work I know I could atleast. ahahaha |

Re: Look at this custom Dash Cluster !
If you do a little research on gauge pricing, you'd soon discover that I would never be able to sell them. The gauges alone add up FAST.

Re: Look at this custom Dash Cluster !
That's a beautiful dash, putter. Someday I'm gonna build me one, or better yet, have you build me one. I know what I'm good at, and that kind of stuff is not one of them.

Re: Look at this custom Dash Cluster !
One thing I need to address....is when I light it up, the Halo ring around the clock is spilling light over into the right turn signal tunnel (hole) and that bothers me. I will close the tunnel completely tonight. Then I just need to print the pin-out descriptions for the wiring and it's done. Then it's just a short ride to Cali.
