As it looks, the rod or something between the rod and switch is broken in the column. While I was trying to pull the switch I located the rod that goes to it, as u suggested during our exchanges of info ChevyTech, I watch it as I turned the Lock cylinder......no go. It did not budge.
I guess I could go and try to follow this thing as far back as possible, but would a replacement steering column be a better solution maybe? I do have access to one. I'm thinking more of the 'how long is this going to take' aspect. |

If you can get a column for a reasonable price, swap it out. Tilt columns are not the easiest thing to work on.
