My wife says I don't need a lift. Hmm, I didn't know that till now. I have a floor jack. If I want lift, sit on the jack she says. Whew! Glad thats settled. lol

I have plans to put a lift NEXT to the shop, outside. With a shop only 24 x 30, don't want to give up the room, and only 9 ft tall at the center, it wouldn't work. the garage is 24 x 50, but I promised the wife it was just to put stuff in that I wasn't working on. The lift has to wait until after the heat pump and insulation, though, so it won't be this year.

4 post lifts are good in theory but once you get it you will want to take the wheels off of the car while its up in the air. They do sell a air powered jack that slides in between the ramps so you can lift the car up while its on the lift but the jacks are expensive and harder to manuver

Anyone in the Phoenix area...http://www.gearheadgarageinc.com/ could be a much more affordable answer. $15/hr to rent a lift; I got one to put my headers on. It makes life eaaasy.

i want a lift so bad... hopefully when i build that dream shop of mine included inside will be a nice lift. until then, i have access to the auto-hobby shop here on the AF base i work at. they have three or four lifts iirc, an alignment machine, tire-mounting, with a total of eight bays i believe. anyway, you can rent the non-alignment bays for stupid cheap, something like $1 an hour.

only catch is, you can't do overnight stays or long projects that require your vehicle staying overnight, etc. active duty military have priority over us civilians, but that usually isn't a big deal

yeah, the auto hobby shop is the one reason i actually considered staying in the Military. 5 bucks a day for the stall, 4 bucks an hour for a lift. And every tool you could imagine needing, along with a full service weld shop and a tire machine. Oh well, I guess its back to the old floor jacks for me... until... someday....
