Yikes! I haven't heard that name in a LONG time. He and I did some work together many moons ago when he had a shop on the southwest side of 635 and I35.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

We've probably bumped into one another at some point then. I've been out of DFW since '95 but had a shop in North Arlington (actually on the GP side of 360... but "North Arlington" sounds more upscale ), and used to do handpainted pin stripes all over the metroplex as well as a wide range of custom stuff... mostly suspension work. Now I have a "real" career... which really means I work all the time so I have to pay others to work on my projects

Progress? Not sure if this counts but I managed to accumulate another inch of dust. Work has been on the Beater & it's taking too long as well (it's getting mini-tubbed too).

Too bad- it looks like you were off to a badass start.

The real reason I dug up this thread is 'cause I was looking at info on tubs and your name came up. I can't get the thought of some 20x15 minimum backspace wheels out of my head. I have basically planned an entire build around a set of rear wheels

I've got a few questions for you regarding some of the things you've done here if you don't mind...

- What method did you use to raise the entire floor? I've studied the pics and it appears to be 'floating'. I know that's not possible, so where'd you get the 3"?

- What is your total height in the center above the (stock)frame rail? My measurements put it at about 7".

- How did you form the stepped flange on the inside edge of the tubs? I get the sectioning part, just can't figure how you did the stepped portion so cleanly.

Thanks in advance, what I see so far looks great. I hope you can find the time to finish it.

-Chris

Standard 3" body lift spacers because a) they're cheap, b) they don't add extra weight, & c) they're designed for just this job.

Correct.

I notched out the area of the tub for floor clearance & then we used 1" 90° sheet metal that's welded to the clearanced section (welded solid to the front, spotted on the undersides). Once it was welded up, there was a bunch of grinding to smooth it as much as possible & then some plastic, primer, & paint.

Re: Requested Tubbing Pics

Looks nice! I minitubbed my 70' lwb, lowered the back 5" took two wheel welds out of 72' truck and cut and peiced the two together so it looked stock but wider. I cut the bed floor to the frame. The rear wheels are weld rodlites 15x12 with 7.5bs with MT sportsman 29-15.5tires. will post pics when i get done painting.
