Horace,

no, Old Fallston Road is just right up the road from Dellview Road. Turn left off of Flint Hill. It's the second road to the left after you pass Dellview road. I know Sonny too. We've always bought produce from him, even when he had his place at North Brook. Too bad he sold out to the Indians at the store. I've been there once since he sold it and won't go back.

Yes, I know Roger as well. He is a talker, ain't he. Can't get a word in edgewise with him.

Am I right thinking N. Main is right beside the store Sonny had? Comes out right in front of the Church? I'll give you a call Saturday. We'll get together and you can check out the exhaust before I start installing it.

North Main street

Mike,
When you come from C-ville on Hwy. 150, turn right at the traffic light, (Beside the Post Office) and you will be on North Main. I have the first residence on the right. Two story white frame house. You will recognize the trucks. Maroon '88 and a faded '77 crew cab dually. It was poppy red but now is pooped out red.

Looking forward to seeing that exhaust system.

Thanks for writing back.
Horace

Oh, I know exactly where you live. I've been by your house a million times. Seen the trucks before also. For some stupid reason I was thinking that little side road was N. Main.

Sounds like I will miss a get together this weekend, dang work!!

Chris, Let me check on what its going to cost for my exhaust work. I would like the whole setup, but I would still have to get some pipes made to drop down to work with my headers. Take a look at the pic below and see if they have a setup that I could bolt right up to my headers? I know I'm looking at around $100 for the pipes and turndowns. If I got that kit, I wouldnt really need anything. I would really like to have an x-pipe so if they have or can make some thing that will work that would be awesome.

The collectors are 2.5", but I think the pipe section of it is 2" or 2.25"

I think they are going to start building them for 67-72's. I was checking out the forums a while back and they were asking for someone with a 67-72 truck to let them use it so they could design a system. The kicker was, you get a free exhaust system out of the deal. Not bad. I just checked again and the post is gone. I guess they found someone.

Mike just answered the question. I think they are developing it at this time.

They only offer the system in an X setup.

Who are you wanting a ride from, swerve?

Correct, the period correct color for my engine is GM corporate blue, since its a GMC. That is also the same color as the stock engine.

Mike, did you get the exhaust put on this weekend? I left my bleeders open all weekend, and I've got fluid there now, so I should be able to get them bled tomorrow. Bad news is I couldnt get it to crank today. Its been sitting for a week since I last cranked, and the choke isnt hooked up so I think thats all the problem is.

I worked on it Friday evening. Had to do some cutting and needed to have a couple pieces expanded. So, I had it done at the muffler shop today and stuck everything together this evening. I needed two 2-3/4" clamps because of the way I hooked it up and didn't get a chance to get them. I will finish everything up tomorrow. I don't have the tailpipe clamped yet, just stuck up onto the muffler. I had to start it to see how it sounded. Sounded pretty dang nice. The x crossover sure evens out the exhaust note. I've never heard an exhaust sound quite like it. Right now it's up on jackstands with a bottle jack holding up the exhaust. I'll get it all clamped and the hangers on tomorrow. So far, I'm liking it a lot.

Only thing is I'm having a hard time trying to find somebody to weld it all up for me. I don't like all the clamps. The guy who usually does my exhaust stuff told me he won't touch it, because I have two cats on it. I planned on clamping everything up and then get it all welded so the clamps can be taken off. I've got to get it all done because my inspection ran out Friday. I believe they give you 15 days to get it inspected after it's out.

Like I said, it sounded good so far. I know it will sound better when I get the tailpipe clamped to the muffler.

How loud is it? Im thinking it would be very loud with the 2.5 pipe then 3 tailpipes. Did you use the mufflers that came with the kit?

OK. Finally test drove it tonight. I got everything hooked up and the hangers on late yesterday evening. It's not much quieter on the outside than my Aerochambers were. But in the cab, it's as quiet as any performance muffler I've had. No drone at all. I'm loving it for sure. Now you can talk to somebody riding with you and not have to yell. I'm satisfied with sound level.

Now if I can find a muffler shop who will weld up all the joints for me. I don't like all the clamps.

Time to move on to the next project.

Damn! That's aggravating to hear. I wish I was closer I would toss the old welder in the pick up and drive over and weld that puppy up for you.

There are only 2 things more thrilling than welding under a truck on a creeper! (1.welding gas tanks and 2.welding in the nude)

Do you know any hot rodders in your area that could knock that out? Just find a good local welder perhaps.

Mike,
Get in the truck and follow me to Clemson, SC this Friday and I'll show you one of the best muffler shops I have ever seen. It is Glenn's (or is it Gene's) Muffler in Seneca, SC. They are artists with pipe.

I'm going to visit my cousins for the weekend. Come on let's go.
Horace

I wish I could weld. I'd buy a welder in a minute. You don't know at the times I have needed to weld something and have to find someone to do it for me. I hate having to get someone else to work on my truck. I guess I could buy a welder and practice. Don't want to be practicing on my truck though.

Horace,

I would but the wife, son and I have plans already. This is the second offer I've had to take a trip down I85 this coming weekend. Have a safe trip. Too bad I got plans or I could have killed two birds with one 2x4.

johnleewilson,
I talked to them and the kits they make are designed to fit using headers, if you got it, you would have to have down tubes made up. Also, they are currently only making them in 2.5".

Mike mig welding is easy and you would catch on quick for sure.
Buy a small 135 or 175 and get to practicing.
Mig welding is easier then you think.
I know you will wonder why you didnt do it years ago.

Mig is a wire welder, correct? I'm pretty dumb when it comes to welding. But as with anything, I could catch on pretty quick I think.

community colleges usually have courses that will teach you torch, arc, and wirefeed welding technique... i personally think thats the way to go.. i learned in high school metal shop but im still not as good as I wish I was.. I can fix something in a pinch though

as for the exhaust- dont we get some high quality audio/video samples? dont be a tease.
