i think the PT handle looks real good!Good choice.I didn't want to shave the handles on my 2wd suburban because of the unique 3rd door. There are not many subs around here, and lots of people look and scratch thier heads or ask the old question, why did you weld the other door shut?

A buddy of mine used reed switches on his driver side power window and didn't have an actual solenoid on the door... only a manual handle on the inside. So he walked up to the car, hit the reed switch with a small magnet on his keychain, which dropped the window. He then reached in and popped the door. Simple, and definitely old skool. I actually found this out as I was walking past his car with a 21" woofer I used to make... with an 80# motor assembly, the magnetic field was pretty strong... dropped his window as I walked by. Funny.

I'm planning on the PT cruiser handle thing too. I done lots of cars with shaved handles. If you decide to go that route use the biggest solenoid you can find. There are some out there that are much like a starter solenoid you have plenty of room in the doors so save a lot of aggrevation and go with these. also use either a manual open for emergency or electric. Insure you can get power to the solenoid in the event of battery failure. another thing that you may want to consider is to hook up an electric outside release using two switches wired in usch a way that if both switches arent pressed the alarm would go off. One on each side of the truck so that no one person can act alone to get in or a hidden kill switch that needs to be activated before a single switch can be activated.

What a great idea! I think I'll do this with the kill switch on my truck, and setup the real kill switch in a slightly less obvious location
