Re: Circus wagon pics ?
I loved that truck.... It was some of my inspiration for getting my first 67-72. Well the wagon and also the black swb in Dazed and Confused.

Re: Circus wagon pics ?
Hi guys! So cool to see my old truck is still talked about and even referenced in many threads when someone has a multi-colored truck it says "I'm leaving it Circus Wagon style". That's crazy!
I can't tell you how much I loved that old truck and how all involved kick themselves for letting it go. I really had no choice economically the last 10 years were brutal for me so no chance I could have kept it, but glad to see it still alive in people's memories. I wrote a long introduction and update to what I have done since that truck here http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...48#post4396048 Thanks everyone for remembering the Circus Wagon! Jim |

WELCOME CircusWagonJim!
I think your truck is what got me started loving the 67-72 body style. And I'm an old guy (49). Ha. Glad to see that you are a member here. Any new truck projects in your future?

Yeah, I'm here because I'm finally getting another truck after working at some other magazines after Sport Truck days.

Re: Circus wagon pics ?
Hey Jim,... what exactly happened to Sport Truck magazine?
I had just re-subscribed to it,... when it went away. I thought it was on it's way to becoming a top truck magazine,... again. Did the economy put an end to it?

Re: Circus wagon pics ?
I don't know what really happened to Sport Truck- but I'd have to say yes, the economy killed all "non-essentials". I'm sure the truck world was hit just as hard as I was in the Hot Rod world.

Re: Circus wagon pics ?
The Yellow '68 belonged to Matt King and was another reason I almost didn't get to do mine. It was a cheap beater they had painted at Earl Schieb. Was still a rough truck when it was on the cover with ME driving it!!!

Re: Circus wagon pics ?
Sorry about that- I did go through a lot of rough times before getting divorced and closing my business. Everyone who knows me knows I will talk cars or trucks all day with anyone. All my pictures were and are still in storage- and there was a time when I was very sad about losing that truck and it's ultimate demise.

Re: Circus wagon pics ?
I too was bit by the 67-72 truck bug following the build of this truck. I think Jim will always look back fondly on that truck and add it to the list of "wish I still had that one" Welcome back!

Re: Circus wagon pics ?
The thing about that truck was it truly was a ton of fun building it from trash no one wanted. The truck and the engine were both on their way to scrap and I had to fight to save them- they didn't think it was worth saving, but I was broke and free fit my budget
What the readers couldn't experience was how FAST it was and how good the Sanderson headers into single 3-inch exhaust sounded. Again my friends thought I was CRAZY not running duals- but when they heard it no one talked any trash! Do I miss it- hell yes! But it was part of a whole different life for me. My new truck will hopefully be filled with even better memories as I start a whole new life. Thanks Jim |

Re: Circus wagon pics ?
No Rick- THIS was the Grandaddy to the Circus Wagon (1987)!
This was just posted in another thread- but want to put all my Circus wagon info in one post. I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!!! I got divorced last year and basically put my whole life in boxes. I just moved one book by my feet by my computer and found a bunch of my truck pictures including these! I wasn't planning on getting another truck when these pictures must have ended up there a few months ago- but I'm so stoked to find them now! This is my '68 CST with Factory 396, TH400, Posi, P/S, P/B, Buckets, A/C, Tach, wood bed and shoulder harnesses. The conversion to black was so well done it took a while for me to figure out it was Red on Red originally. The first pic is when I got it with the trailer wheels and ugly bumper. The second pic is after our local '67-'72 expert heated my springs and cut-off the bumper. I was in the process of adding Ralleys- This truck was over a decade before the Circus Wagon (1988) and the real reason I built it. Yes, it was a straight and clean truck! I was in Junior College and my future wife (now ex after 20 years) didn't like the "noisy old truck" and I bought a new S-10 Blazer and my dad talked me out of the '68. |
