hey "bigjimzll" your truck has ran pretty much exact same as my Dads truck that he sold last year. His best time was a 11.80 on pump gas, I don't remmber the mph i'd have to drag out some old time slips to see. Do you have any pics you can post???Heres a pic of my dads truck.

Also the XE274 is a .490 lift cam, correct me if I'm wrong but with the 1.6 rockers, will my lift actually be .523???

And if so, with this combination should I be worried about piston to valve clearance??

Thanks

I had that set up in my 3200# Vette with 1.6 rockers and could barely get under 14 seconds@ 100 mph in Calgary (3500 ft elevation 6500 ft air density). The only thing different was my intake which was a 7530 Weiand intake and a 4 speed M-20.

Built a mild 406 with good heads (AFR 210's), slightly smaller cam (222/230), and same intake and now run low 12's at 115 with the same air. Traction isn't an option...406's ROCK! The engine does need more cam though, it runs out of breath early at ~5300 rpm. It dynoed at 476 hp and 496 torque.

if your on a budget like i know i am ,might think about a 400 with vortec heads ,small solid lift cam, performer rpm airgap, roller rockers. put a cam bout like the comp 292 in and a 3000 stall and it will haul booty. of course there is always big blocks.
