I got one made, and got the alternator all tightened up. Now, no more belt squeak..but the headlights still flicker a LITTLE at idle. I'm going to do some testing and figure out where my wiring is messed up at.

if you get a smaller pulley on your alt it will turn faster and at idle and will kick on much sooner. if you are having problems at ~700 RPM and not at ~1000 RPM This should solve your problem. Or If the alt has a warranty, you could explain your problem and they may give you a new one. The new one may or may not kick on sooner. Good luck.

There actually is a tool, Tim. I used to just carefully use a crowbar against the alternator housing, but I bought one of these a few years back and have used it on the alternator as well as the power steering pump.
