Iv'e have mine for 2 1/2 yrs paid 1500 for it put new tires, new radiator, carb , intake , batt , fule lines seat cover, a few other things that dont come to mind right now have about 2300 or so in it now

Well, now I know that I'm not the only one who doesn't have a "show" truck, even though I've dropped a lot of dough on it. I bought my truck in May of 2000, for 5k I've probably got another 5k in it at least...so that's 10 grand total for a truck that still needs a front end rebuild and a trans rebuild. Not to mention proper bodywork.
Oh well, it's a labor of love for me....

I have had mine for a few year's about 13 or .. It was my dad's truck before i got in 89 or 90.. I have no idea on how much money i have into it prob not much really as I dseem to change direction's every few month's.. Here are a few photo's of it as it sit's in my carport...

Here's Mine,
I've had this one about 4 years. This is a pic of the enterior right after I got the truck. I now have factory buckets and console all done in blue. I probably have about 12 grand in it and all the parts I have stored for it. I had a 71 SWB Cheyenne I restored and kept for about 15 years. I sold it in a moment of weakness. I keeping this one.

my wife's 71 longhorn we have had for 3 years.My father in law bought it in 86 ,passed away before he could restore it.my wife love this truckand wants to restore it in her fathers memory.the 72 gmc 1-ton my uncle bought new for his water-well company.Myfather bought it from him in 76 to use for his landscaping bussiness.He passed away in 98 and left it to me.I have all the information on it since it was new.I have just started the restorations on them this passed summer.we have 5000 invested in the longhorn.the 1-ton we have about 1500 in.these truck are not as nice as the cheyennes but they have certain meaning to us and the money we put in them does not really matter because they will never be sold in our life time.

Last week I picked up my '67 GMC pickup. I'm roughly $250 into it. (Towing, registration, battery, coil, beer.) It's close to running after a couple hours of tinkering. (Geez that's one huge V6 motor.) I'm sure it would be running if I actually knew anything about motors. Fortunately I have mechanically-inclined friends that like beer.
I've also got a Galaxie, and an M37B1 (Military Power Wagon), both 1967. John |

I've had the 71 going on 3 weeks,and $350 for the rolling chassis,and I already had the engine,and several parts trucks,I dropped around $200 into it.

I have had the 68 a little over a year. Engine was shot when I bought it. I bought a used engine to get me by while I build a 327, new intake, carb etc prolly 3000-4000 taking a wild guess.

One truck? Don't know. I had a 72 longbed in high school, which I guess I still own technically. My brother parted out 80% of after I left for the military in 1985. Came back on leave to find a cab and frame.... Never saw a dime of the money. Nothing like brotherly love. Then I had a 72 4X4 for about 8 years. Still kicking myself for selling that one. Then there was the 72 short bed (white), another 72 longbed (yellow, which I've owned twice), a 70 shortbed 454(torch red) that I just sold/ traded for a 72 shortbed(white) :p that is ready to go. (It's available) And I currently have "rusty" my 72 Longhorn(green) that I'm rebuilding. Still looking for the next one. As far as money spent? I think I may be ahead after all the horse trading and selling. I haven't lost money on a truck yet.

Got my 67 in March for $300. Just to get it moving, it needed new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, point and condenser (wild guess at $30). New tires(300 mounted and balanced), brake drums and shoes($45), new rear wiring harness($15), about 30 new light bulbs (lol, new tail lights, reverse lights, front marker lights, headlights, and 3 new lights for the dash - $20), seat cover so the cracked vinyl doesn't pinch my butt ($25), carb rebuild kit($25)...umm...
Yeah, probably about 700-750 in it at this point. I started adding up all the parts I'm going to need to restore it, and when just the sheet metal would cost me $2500 without shipping or bolts, I got frustrated and quit that crap. BTW, Stryker, that red truck is gorgeous.

Gettin' close to two years but it should be painted by the end of the year. My fater-in-law bought the truck new in 72 as a long bed GMC and I am making a 72 Chevy short bed out of it. I quit keeping track of the money after $10M.......

I bought mine when i was 16 in late October 2000. Can't beleive i've had it for almost 4 years now....really seems like i bought it yesterday. I paid $2550 for it, and don't want to think about how much i have in it. Easily more than i paid for it....and thats pretty sad considering its a lawn ornament now Oh well...one day it will be resotred.

Pulled mine out of a field a year ago last March. I put a new Kragens rebuilt long block, new front suspension and a new interior. Drove it that way for 10 months then put in a 700R4. Got 2 months more and then the damned motor spun a bearing after warranty expired..... So I went out and bought a GM crate motor. Then decided it be nice to have paint.... I'm gonna rebuild the motor myself one day. It's my first non-Briggs motor build and I didn't feel comfortable putting my first attempt into my daily driver. Gave 400 for the truck. Guess it's somewhere around 10K now and it is by no means a "show" truck. If it wasn't for the junk rebuilt motor, it would be closer to 7k.

I've had my 71 Chevy since 75. Paid $1200 for a 1/2 ton, 2 wheel drive with 402 and air. Slowly working on it's 3rd paint job and a frame up redo. Picked up a 71 GMC 3/4 also w/402 and air about 15 years ago for $500. Has about 250k miles now. Couldn't tell ya how much more I've spent on either over the years but I'll bet it reaches into some pretty big $$$s if you include maintenence, fixing everything that broke over time and all the stupid crap I had to learn about on my own (pre truck forum days).

I have had my 72 since I was 3 yrs. old... I'm now 19.. The truck was bought by my dad for $800, and since then has undergone total reconstruction with a credit card debt of originally $21,654 now reduced to $16,343.

A little over two years now, just got it paid off. As for money put into it, I probably have about $350 worth of parts installed onto it, and about $500 in parts waiting to still go on it.

Bought my 67 GMC longstep 3+ years ago as somebody else's unfinishedproject...otherwise known as a basket case.
It si well on it's way to being finished, has had a complete frame off restoration, has a new 350/350 combo under the hood. Paint has recently been finished, now I need to finish putting it together. Here is a pic just after the paint job was done. It's been quite interesting looking through my many boxes of parts finding parts I didn't know I had and realizing what parts I need (like the instrument cluster bezel) to replace. Including purchase price and parts/paint I have a total of ~ $5,500 into the truck. Luckily I bought the truck right (cheap). Left to do, finish installing brake and tranny lines, wiring for the engine, headlight/marker light wiring, instrument cluster, battery, interior, bumpers, mirrors, etc. Anybody wanna help? What wheels shouldI install, or should I just get hubcaps? Chris 67
