I got to this post a little late. But on my 56 from what I have been told it has the original PTO winch on it. Its pretty cool. I don't have any real good closeups of the winch, but here is the best one I have.

71 Burb Bumper??
The orange 71 Burb that Blazerman posted; is that a 'factory' bumper?? Does anybody know who manufactured that bumper back then? Anybody know of one that might be for sale?
I'd like to find a used winch bumper for a 67-72 thats available. I'll even throw in my nice shiny chrome front bumper in trade. Thanks, 72longbed |

This is a dealer-installed PTO winch (Ramsey 200R), I suspect that it was installed at the same time as the NAPCO conversion. It uses the same front bumper as original. There was also a heavy duty bumper available as an option, it looks like the one on the orange Suburban up above.

PTO winch & bumper for sale on ebay
I saw this one for sale on E-bay, unknown winch w/ a Dana PTO unit. Every once in a while Chelsea PTOs pop up on there for bidding. Good deal for someone in the NE region but to far away for me.

Unless I missed the photo's perspective, I like the reasonable size of that ebay PTO winch for sale. I could see that winch between the front frame rails on my K20. I wonder if an NP203 uses the same xfer case mounted take-off drive as NP205s. Hmmmm...? Must be different gears, if not cases.

I just used my PTO winch a couple days ago to un-flip our little tractor. But it sounds like the u-joints are shot. Does anyone know if i can get them? I sure hope so.

Matt,
Try a good farm supply store. If you can take your PTO drive shaft in there, they should be able to get you exactly what you need. Bob

Re: Dealer-installed PTO winch/bumper?
Looks like a Muncie RG series. Need a view of the side of the shift bar to tell for sure. The shift bar on Muncie RL looks a little diffrent. The picture shows the pto unit has an added on extnesion unit. This is a option if the pto needed more clerance. It can be removed. You will have to check the input gear part number to see what transmission it will fit. The input gear can be changed to fit most transmissions with a SAE 6 bolt pto opening. You can download the parts manual on line. Just search Muncie pto units. The Muncie RL series is a verry good pto unit. It is a reversible unit with output speed about 40% of engine speed. It has a max. touque raiting of 125lb/ft. It is a verry usefull pto unit for winch drive off of the main transmission along with the Muncie RL series and the Chelsea 340 and 352.

Re: Dealer-installed PTO winch/bumper?
I was on the Chelsea website about a month
Ago and saw that they still list pto modules for np 203's and 205's. I think that the 205's use some sorta 6 bolt standard whereas the 203's are slightly offset and unique. I have been looking for a 203 module up here for ages but it seems like an impossibility finding one off of a wrecked truck. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Dealer-installed PTO winch/bumper?
The NP203 and NP 205 both have standard SAE 6 bolt pto openings. I just looked a a parts list for a Chelsea 352 series PTO unit. The input gear # for a NP 203 is 5P-1018. The input gear # for a NP 205 is 5P-1019. The input gear part No. for diffrent model pto units will be diffrent also but in any case a pto unit can be fitted to both a NP203 and NP 205.

Re: Dealer-installed PTO winch/bumper?
I believe V30 mongo is correct after visiting the muncie web site this does indeed appear to be an early muncie rg series pto. This particular pto goes on a sm420 transmision from a 65 chev k10. The 30 degree adapter is to drop the pto to a lower elevation so the drive line will clear under the rear cross member. thanks for identifying this pto for me.

Re: Dealer-installed PTO winch/bumper?
Yeah, I'd like to find the same. I noticed years ago in the GM Truck parts book there is a Ramsey winch listed. I'll have to dig that out to see just what they listed...complee wnch, maybe bumper/mount, or parts? But, being in the parts book makes me think they were an option. I guess I could check those books, too
