Hey guys why don't you all really express how you feel about the truck. Just kidding. I thought it was being sold as a 2wd not a 4wd. No offense to those of you on this board that might have a bed on your truck like this, but these trucks incredible with the original sheetmetal on them.

I see that truck everyday on my way home from work. It isn't in Lenexa. It's at a little "pot-lot" in Bonner Springs. I would also offer to give it a "look" for any that are interested. Somehow, I have just not been tempted to take a closer look. Not my cup-o-tea.

Is this board full of nothing but complete purests. The guy went to a lot of trouble. I think it is kind of cool that he did not do a restoration. I will agree that the bed sucks. He shoulda used a step from that year. I think the rims look good raised or lowered. I am particularly fond of the lowered one that somebody did on photoshop. I wouldn't want to pay what he is probably asking, but its an ok truck.

actually the lift and that enormous tire sidewall height throws it waaaaay off. randy did do it a lot of justice, and i'd lose the bed too.

I think 20 should be the limit on wheels...and then only if the wheels are contained with the wheel wells and lowered to at least a normal height from the ground. 22's are just too much!

I wouldn't call any of us "complete" purests, it's just that we (and I am speaking of those of posted on this thread) know what we like and when we see that someone takes it too far or does a hack job or does something that to most of us just doesn't look right or "fit", then we're gonna let it be known.

You're right, I'm sure he did put a lot of work into it, but as you can see, it just doesn't look right. Personally, I think he had a those parts hanging around and built it, then bought those wheels so he could sell quick to some yout.

I will give the builder one thing though, I do dig the paint scheme and I'd sure as hell like to see that on something a little more worthy.*

Except by me! Those wheels/tires look like 38DDD's on a 90# female, just wrong and out of place

. I wouldn't put a newer bed on my truck, but they do look suprisingly good. I'm surprised at how well the lower body lines match up though. Too bad the wheel wells weren't a better match to the front, then it might be a more popular swap.

The "purist" title left me back when I first took the torch to my truck

I know a lot of people here don't like the beds. I'm not going to say anything negative. But really, this person put a lot of work into it. I'm sure there were some things said that pissed off a few people who like/own the new style bed. Keep in mind that there have been odd/uglier things done. Like putting a Mustang front clip on a Ranger. Granted this maybe ugly to us. But there was a lot of work thrown into that project. But art is in the eye of the beholder. Sometimes we just need to honor the energy or the effort, and not always the art.

I agree with this. Anytime you customize anything you run the risk of criticism by others but as long as you like the looks of it then it shouldnt really mater what others think.

I bought my truck about a month ago and one thing lead to another and now its bare bones and very little will be put back to stock. I thought that with the help of a highly skilled group of guys i'd have my truck put back together in no time but even with 8-10 guys working on it 8 hours a day it doesnt look like anything has gotten done to it. Customizing is HARD WORK! It takes a TON of mental preperation and time and in the end it might not look good at all but when it is done right then youve really done something special that people will copy for years and i think thats VERY cool and worth the risk.
