Didn't mean to steal the thread but I like the old tractors too. The IH is a 48 Model M, one of 2 my brother has, he also has a hand start B, a Super C and a couple of A's (one in pieces) and whats left of an H and another parts B, he usually has about 4 of them running at any given time. I have a 49 8N Ford that was my Grandfathers and a 48 Model B John Deere ( in the photo) and a 51 B parts tractor. My Dad has a 640 Ford and a 51 MT John Deere. The Tractor my brother is pulling against is my Brother in laws 41 hand start John Deere A, he also has a 8N Ford. They tried to get me in that pulling thing but you can get killed doing that and the Bud wasn't talking to me yet, the photo was taken a split second before my brother stood that M straight up. They were going at each other about who had the best tractor and of course the Bud Light took over and next thing I knew they had a chain hooked to them. My brother was confident that M would outpull that Deere cause it sounds like a small block chevy at 8 grand compared to that old 2 lunger that only runs at 975 RPM. When he snatched at that old A it was like running into a brick wall, he would just spin the tires and the A would just lug down and almost die. My brother inlaw would have to pull the clutch (hand clutch) to get the rpm up and my brother would try to pull him then he would bury the clutch again and the Deere would try and pull him. In the end they broke MY chain and it was pretty much a draw. Little brother had to change his drawers after it was over though.

My daily driver is a souped up 2 wheel drive Dodge Cummins pickup.

There is nothing anywhere, no way, no how that is more helpless off road than that truck. It will get stuck in 1/2 inch of mud, seriously. A Hyundai Excel with 2 dead cylinders and a space saver spare tire on the front will go through off road conditions better than a 2wd diesel truck.

I will, however, put it up against any other truck anywhere in pulling power on road. I just hope there's no muddy areas we have to go through, or I'll be walking.

When I first got my truck running I had some old mudgrips on 16" steel rims on it and that thing could go through maybe a foot of mud in low gear easy. Not bad for a 2wd C20! My Granddad used to have an old Farmall model H, it had a 4 banger with a crankstart, wish he wouldn't have gotten rid of it. My Dad said it was made in the 30's or early 40's.

No Krue sorry. The ones we fool with we mostly just cut grass on the family property. For any work with a blade we use one of the 8N's or my Dads trusty old 640. You would probably need something a little more modern with a front end loader, but a 8N or a Ford from the 50's ( Jubilee or 600 series) would have a 3 point hitch and you can do a lot with a box blade. You can usually pick up a decent 8N for 1 to 2 thousand depending on how much fixing up you want to do. The neat thing with a old one is they are fun and simple to work on and you can still use them. Resale is good too. I know a lot of websights where you can find old ones if you want.Yesterdays tractors magazine (YTMag) online is the best place to start, they have nationwide adds and a GREAT message board just like here.

I've got a couple of old Allis-Chalmers, one is a WF, one is a WD-45 with Hemi Heads, and another WD, along with a good old Cockshutt The WD-45 has only about 1500 hours on it till it got a cracked block between two of the cylinders in the water jacket. Just need to put some JB weld on it or something and reassemble it. The Cockshutt runs (has a real nice bark!) the other WD runs, but is getting old, quite a few thousand hours on it. Still doesn't smoke though. The WF is completely worn out, she was burning more oil than gas before my father finally let her lay in peace in the back 40 after she fouled her plugs for the 50th time that day, lol. He said he had a can of gas and a wrench he took with him, and when she stalled out from having too much oil built up on the plugs, he'd take them out, swish them in the gas to clean them up, and put them back in, give it a crank, and keep going

Looks like most of our County Roads after a good rain. I use the wifes 2003 Tahoe Z71, the 50's on my 69 don't get me up the the first hill when our sand and red clay road is wet.
As for the Dodge, a wise man once told me "Do not mess with a man with a Dodge as he is already fighting mad".
