The way it sounds so far everything is pretty much good (damage wise). Still need to pull the intake and look at the lifter and install it. It probably will be good, if not replace it with a new one. What type of rocker arm nuts are you using? I got a new comp cam lifter for 5.00 plus sales tax.

So have you found out what the final damage was? Also how much was the posi install with new gears? I've got a guy to do it for me when I get the $$$. I want to compare prices.

same thing happened to me....rocker nut came off, rocker arm turned sideways and made a bunch of noise but no damage was found so I put a new nut on and it was perfect again. You may want to get some roller rockers that come with the nice poly locks and this will never happen again.

Few years back, I had a screw in stud break. Rocker arm turned sideways and made one hell of a racket. I thought for a minute I had blown the damn engine. Bought a new stud and all was well.

I now have ARP Perma Locks so the crappy stock nuts don't loosen up.

Word of advise to everyone. Never, ever, reuse stock rocker nuts.

Eric,

I bet money when you pull the intake the lifter is laying in the valley. Do yourself a big favor though. Buy some ARP Perma lock adjustable rocker arm nuts. It will be a wise investment to help keep this from happening again.
