Sorry to hear that, Eric. There was no way I was going to get my truck out Wednesday night! Took my wife's Honda to work, and that was bad enough.

We were in my moms camaro going up a steep hill down the road and got stuck in a low spot on the road..I let my mom work the throttle and turn the wheel while i went all the way from 1 to OD and back again before a cadillac behind us walked up and said he'd puah us...we made it up too with his help.

Glad to hear this isn't as bad and what I initially thought. As for the Posi and Ice, it is the WORST combination you can get. Open diffs work better on ice.

the posi is what got me home

i finally got to the side of the road and got one tire in the grass and it hooked up enough for me to get home

if i had an open diff. then, it would have just spun the other tire

sucks in bad weather, sorry to hear about any kind of crash. even in the hill country of Texas, it takes a smart person to drive at all on icy roads. The hard part once you get going is stopping/steering. Many times I've driven a few miles an hour with the passenger-side wheels on the gravel shoulder. But that's living in the country, sounds kinda like you were in town. Still, your accident sucks. i hope you can get a new rim that matches.

the rim isnt messed up. i made myself slide sideways and hit the curb head on, so that i wouldnt hit the side and possibly bend a rim

As for air dams, I bought one a few years ago at the local Chevy place for $30 or so.

Nice being retired, snows...who cares...

Get the fire going, and a good bottle of Wild Turkey and wait it out.

Sorry to hear about the truck Eric, but it looks like a easy fix. Sounds like you midwestern folks either suck at winter driving or you aren't used to the ice. We get all sorts of crap up here in MN, I guess it just takes some gettin used to.

Hey there Jeff, you're from the midwest too! We just aren't used to all the ice down here in central IL. We had 2 days of freezing rain before it snowed. Plus it doesn't help that this is only my 2nd winter driving(1st winter driving w/a license) and most of the 1st winter I drove a front wheel drive car, not a rear wheel drive truck. You MN guys are just more used to the really terribly winter driving I think.

Sand bags worked great for me in 16" of snow last week. My 94 fullsize would barely get out of the drive so i went to Home Depot and got 10 bags of sand at $3.58 each for a total of 600 pounds. Worked great and when the snow melted I took them back and got my $$ back!!
