I had an Olds with a 307,and my 90 Caravan with 3.0 V6 will run circles around it and get twice the mileage.
I have one in the garage in pieces that's prolly gonna get scrapped this spring, boat anchors IMO. Now if it were a 455.or even a 400 I'd think about a cam and intake, headers Of course to each his own.

I have some experience in these, I would never take a 307 olds over any smallblock chevy. A smallblock chevy is a direct bolt in for this olds with the right motor mounts. I put a smallblock in an 84 olds wagon, it was a breeze. The olds motor is great until it has problems, then it is scrap- too expensive to fix for what you get. The BOP 2004r behind almost every 307 of the era inquestion is total crap. The 307 olds can be hopped up and made fairly reliable, but at about 4 times the price of a 350 etc.

I got 300 000 miles on my 200r4 then one day i was going up a hill and the RPM climbed and the car stopped moving, just rolled it down the hill , dragged it home and parked it in the backyard, the Junkyard picked it up and gave me 300 bucks for it
