I will check when I get home. I think I might have the Aux Battery listed but I don't remember for sure. I don't think the camper wiring is there also. I do not have the camper wiring on my truck for sure.

Edit: Maybe it was removed?

Do you have a picture of the entire truck laying around? It sounds like it's really nice (I like bronze).

Not trying to get into a p-match or give anyone a chance to ruffle his/her feathers, but all I see is those three items are "required" with the Custom Camper option. The following VIN-spec posted shows springs, shocks, and stabilizer as additional options.Just like the mirrors, the wiring, etc.I have nothing to prove here(nor have any flunkies),I just think CustomCampers are as special a group(& overlooked)as the Longhorn or 1tons or 9`StepSides.They usually come with decent options,as I said, and were generally treated well by original owners. What I said I think you`re wrong about (or I didn`t understand)is,the CustomCamper as a model only as Longhorn.Did I misunderstand you?Or are you wrong?Because CustomCamper as a model was available on 8`trucks.

The aux.battery was an option. It`s funny, even the sliding rear glass wasn`t in the Camper package.My`72 CheyenneSuper/CustomCamper came w/sport mirrors.I`ve seen others. This is odd, too, since you need good mirrors for a camper.

Thanks Bill! that's one very beautiful truck!

Special-K:

To reinforce what you said about Custom Camper being available on 8' beds: just look at Bill's truck above.

Which bringe me to a question: GMC vs Chevrolet emblems.

I've seen two 1972 GMC longhorns lately: one on eBay, and one at a local store in the parking lot. Both had the custom camper script on the doors... One truck was obviously restored, and anything can be added/removed during restoration, but my question is, did GMC's use the same "Custom Camper" script as on Chevrolets?

The more I try to learn, the more this GMC stuff confuses me.

Both GMC & Chevy used the same script badge on the door when CustomCamper package was added onto another model designant.Like CustomDeluxe,Cheyenne,Sierra, etc.A truck could be a CustomCamper model alone in 20 &30 series, and 10 series,I believe, just in `69(had a K/10.These trucks would have the fender badge:CustomCamper/20 etc.I had a `71 CustomCamper/20 with custom sport truck option. It had everything to make it a Cheyenne w/o any designation other than the CustomCamper/20 fender badge.

Oh... OK, that makes sense. I think I've even come across some '67-68 Custom Camper models doing google searches, but I recall the emblems were way different, though they never have detail pics, so couldn't tell what they looked like.

That build book picture's great!... I should get one of those books.

The 67/68 badge was rectangular, said CustomCamper across upper part, with the series(20/30)under,if I recall. There`s one on that 50th anniversery K/20 the guy in Alaska has.Black now with white top.

The aux bat and camper wiring were on the glove box. There was a harness with a plug in the left rear fenderwell. I did not think it was stock and removed it. Wasn't the camper harness to exit fron the left rear of the cab?

My buddy grabbed my custom camper badges said he was gonna fix a couple of broken post for me. Ol' boy died before I got em back. Wife let me nose around the garage... No luck.

Oh and thanks for the pics of the good lookin truck and the info. I like the history of it.

On another post, I saw someone mention that they didn't know if '72 GMCs had the Custom Camper emblems. Anybody care to clarify?

Say a '72 GMC Sierra had the Custom Camper option, would it have the emblems above the door handle?

I'm thinking it would... but just gotta make sure.

My 69 had the customcamper/20 emblem on fender. I'm the one that bought more from erick. One of mine was broke when i bought the truck. When i saw a chance to buy both i jumped on it. It had 350ci, 400turbo 410rear with leaf springs. Thats 1 nice truck bill.

The Chevys would have the custom camper emblems on the front fender, my 69 is a Cst/ Custom Camper 10, but the Custom camper emblems on the truck instead of the CST emblem, the GMCS all the way to 1972 used the script badges above the door handles to show the custom camper option. whenever the custom camper option was ordered it would replace whatever other emblem was supposed to go in its place

Hmm... Here's a question then: The GMC equivalent of the Chevy Longhorn model is the Custom Camper correct?? If so... these would then have the "custom camper" emblems?...

Now, are Chevy C/30 fleetside pickups really longhorns? To me, from what I've read so far, the Longhorn is a HD C/20 with the frame and suspension from the C/30. The C/30 just being a C/30... unless those too had the longhorn emblem on the bed?

The reason I ask is I'm looking at a GMC 3500 wideside, and it has no custom camper emblems, or evidence of having any (mind you it had been repainted once). It has some camper options on it (HD springs, camper wiring, and camper mirrors), but not the custom camper option, so it wouldn't have the emblems based on option package. So, I would assume that by model #, the GMC custom camper would be the 2500 model with the 3500 frame, and the 3500 being just a 3500, or should it technically have these emblems on it as well?

I'm just trying to make some sense in all this, as GMC info isn't all that easy to find.

My GMC is a 72 and it has the custom camper option and it has the emblems above the door.

Longhorn only refers to the additional length of the bed, Have you ever seen a longbed truck with a little 12" extension on the front, that is a Longhorn. You can have a GMC longhorn or a Chevy Longhorn, you could even have a Custom Camper Longhorn

I have seen many of these trucks (both up close and pictures), but only the Chevy's have the Longhorn emblems on those trucks with a 6" extension.

I know that in general that they are all known to be Longhorns, but that's not really what I'm asking... GMC didn't call their model a Longhorn... just like they don't call the Sprint an El Camino, or a Wideside a Fleetside, or Fenderside a Stepside.
