Wow! That really is a special truck, then. The arm rests and cloth seats aren't even worn.
The Highlanders I have had did not come with hubcaps...a little rougher than that one, by a long shot
I believe that would be a good candidate for Barrett-Jackson's auction.

Too Much Money !!!

This truck is as nice as you are gonna find but the gentlemen sure wants all the money for it in my opinion. What happened to the good old days when you found stuff like this and could buy it at reasonable prices.

That's a canidate for a survival award. I don't think it's too much at all, in fact, if advertised on e-bay, it may well bring way more than that. Heck, there's people on this board that spend way more than that to restore their trucks, and they will never regain the original factor.

Nice pictures.I`ve never seen that brochure.Must have been a promotion for the Highlander package. That`s alot of dough for a brochure.Seriously,I know an ol`boy that had two like that in a steel building(actually 4 trucks,a`55 conv,`57 power-pac,&`56 Nomad). One was his,the other had been his brothers. Both w/caps on the bed since new.He was selling his(Ochre/White)Cheyenne,I took a friend, another somewhat older guy, that is a bodyman and hot rodder/collector to look about buying it `til he got his SWB done.He passed,on the way home he picked it to death.I couldn`t believe it.Lost alot of respect for this guys judgement after that(hot air blowhard). He said,"looks good now. It`s gonna need everything".Did I mention the price was $3,500?6-7 years ago.I was broke, the only reason I let this guy in on it.Oh well.By the way, does that truck smell like mothballs? That`ll hurt resale.

Nice truck but I wonder what the MPG would be? And does it need leaded gas? ---LIKE WHO CARES!!!! Would love to have it but----would hate to have to haul mulch and other love muffin stuff with it!! Too nice for me-----. Great truck to compare to as it's so original it's like a beautiful model----would like to touch it a bit---maybe fondle a part or two---and see how they were supposed to look like originally!hehehe

So many replys when i checked in today ! I'm so glad that i could share this piece of history with you guys . I think for the most of ya'll you liked it ?!?! Thoses were factory hubcaps that came on the truck. It don't smell nothing like mothballs either . The sticker price was posted too in a picture . It can and does have unleaded gas in it and who care about MPG ?!?! *L* I'm only getting about 7-8 MPG in my 3/4 ton 4x4 w/454 in it , but i luv to drive it and cost is only around 5 dollars a day , so i figure its worth that . Just to answer a few of the questions that i read over and remember . I have seen nicer trucks after a restore , but , i haven't NEVER seen a nicer stock one before in my life . Mr. Witty want'it me to try to sale it here on this board since i mentioned it to him . If no one buys it here , he wants me to help him market it on E-Bay .

A very sharp time capsule! I wish that I had the money and patience to have bought one and put it away .How much profit was in that deal? What did that truck sell for originally?

After the discount looks like it was $3813.00 or somewhere close to that. $4193 before the discount. Can't really tell for sure cuase the eyes aren't what they used to be.
On the application for title, there is a mistake in the addition. When they added up the fees they got a total of $4.25. I got $5.25.
Just thought it was funny. Those fees seem like chicken scratch today.

I just want to pick that thing to pieces.Let`s see,It has the wrong kind of mufflers on that 'Non-original exhaust system.Look like glass-pacs,probably ran the crap out of it.He may be older now,but was probably one of them biker houligans burnin`rubber, spittin`baccy, tearin`up the countryside. That`s why it didn`t get driven much.Too busy blastin`some Apehangin`upswept suicide-shift chopped all-to-heck Panhead with one brake all night long, sleepin`all day.Lord knows what-all went on back in that bed, under that shell. No,not me,I`d be very suspicious if I were you.Least a banged-up tatered tie-wired 6-tone fenderflapper tells the truth about how it was treated.

Thanks for sharing. Excellent example of an original Highlander. Hope it goes to someone who'll appreciate it for what it is. I don't know how you'd go about this but you ought to market it to a collector. If sold on ebay, someone with more money than brains may buy it and turn it into a "me too" truck--> a 4/6 drop, custom wheels and 2001 Silverado seats.

If the guy really wants it to go to a good home, I'll keep her safe from harm

What a great ideal . Just get everyone to put a few dollars in the hat and buy it . Then let every member that donated , drive it a few days and then hand it to the next one . I would want to be one of the first ones though , for i know how some of ya'll drive ! *LOL* When everyone gets done ,we'll draw a winner , that donated , to get to keep it for life .

I would buy that up and throw the camper in the local city dump, put that long bed thing on ebay for 300.00 bucks, chop the frame and back half it and air bag it all the way around with 24"s in the rear and 22"s in the front and put a short bed on it and drive the crap out of it until the engine blows and put in a new LS2 motor out of an 05 vette in it. Just kidding. Just dreaming. Really nice truck. I agree with special-k. Everybody kick in a few buck and make it a board parts chaser truck.
