I have a guy local that can chrome parts for me but I have not yet had him do any work for me, I think I may take him about 20-25 of these and have him plate them for me.
I did look at the stock # in the catalog from the Metal distributor I got the sheet of stainless from and it is the correct stock # polished stainless. I have taken a couple of them and polished them on my wheel and they looked very nice but I am like you for 16-18 bucks I think the price is very reasonable.

Paul
I received mine yesterday and they look like an original one on the old console only not rusty, stained and scratched. I don't remember these ever being polished as the ashtray and outer trim accent the stainless. Kind of like chrome fixtures on a stainless sink! Thanks.

Mine arrived today and I just couldn't wait to open the package. I was NOT disappointed - they are nice. I think the brushed finish is correct to keep glare out of your eyes. I noticed all the shiney stuff(wiper arms and blades, horn buttons, inside mirrors, etc.) went away in the late 60's. Probably a government thing like soft bumpers on cars.

Thanks for getting this done - Bob

It is for the 69-72 seat belt style consoles, this is the ashtray bezel that fits around the rectangular slots that the seat belts fit into. I stil have about 35 or 40 of them left.

No I did not get any chromed, I carried some to the guy that plates them and he said that the results he has had with chroming stainless were not very good so he recomended not doing them. I did have him high gloss polish a few and they look like they have been chromed, they are awesome. I can sell the high gloss polished ones for 26.00 ea. shipped.
