Nice looking truck. Buy another and paint it the same but slam it to the ground with some 'bags, etc.
Where are you located? We have a local (washington) club - Classic GM Truck Club of Washington. We are trying to plan a meet sometime early this summer. You can find more info about the club, etc, at http://classicgmtrucks.net/. Please fill out the location in your profile. There are a lot of us in the Puget Sound area - assuming that is where you are based on your avitar.

Not to be too different, but I say get the cutting torch out and have your way with it. It is a nice clean truck, which will make it easier to do some nice mods on. Personally, I like to see what other peoples imagination can do to these trucks. (within reason, of course.)

You can always add wheels and even drop it a bit because you can easily reverse those mods (as long as you do them correctly). Just keep all the original parts together so you can show it stock when you need to.

Your truck. Do what you want. Gettin hard to find clean, un-molested ones though. If it was mine, I'd let some guy that has his heart set on a showroom truck buy that one. Then I'd buy a project truck with money actually left over for the project. Guys down here are sellin those at the 12K mark and that is no BS. Might take em a bit, but it only takes 1 buyer. That truck is original, bone stock and complete with minor blemishes. Yours looks as good or better. So... What would you build for 12K?

If you're looking for something to do, I'd put some wheels, and a spring/spindle drop. Just keep the original stuff, so you can go back if you like. If the engine compartment looks as good as the rest of the truck, I wouldn't touch a thing. Just a stance adjustment.
Great looking truck, by the way.

IM gonna go against the grain here , I say slam it and put in on some cool wheels look at N2TRUX did to his 77, I havent heard much commentary against what he's done , drop it and have one really super clean custom
you can do a 4/6 drop with out and irreversible mods, Get to work!

Wow!!! I am overwhelmed with the compliments, and suggestions. None bad, but I kind of like the idea of towing another rig with it. Now would'nt it be neat to have another truck just like it, color and all tubbed out built and ready to drag? HMMMMM, now were talking.
I live in Des Moines, and I would be interested in a local gathering. This is my first restore. Boy did I have fun doing this. I want more projects! Thanks all for the replies, keep 'em coming. |

Maybe some rims would be as far as I would go but keep the old ones safe just in case.
Very nice.

i am all about a full custom (prefer it actually), but there is no way i could bring myself to cut on a beautiful truck like that. original is getting hard to find. i would keep that one the way it is and piece together a custom ride.

I'd leave it alone. That truck looks to nice to butcher it up. 3/4 and 1 tons were never meant to be "lowered", but it just depends on what you want to do with it.

I'd leave it. If you do customize it, make sure that it's nothing that can't be undone with a ratchet and screwdriver.

If you decide to customize, make sure any changes are 100% reversible because of the trucks current originality. I lower all my stuff but like to keep them 'stock' appearing.
