I had my cab dipped and was very happy with the results. I don't think getting it sealed up again will be a problem as you can pretty easily get seam sealer every where it was originally. I paid $775 last year so the price seems comparable. The only thing that would be even better would be to get it epoxy dipped after but their is no one any where around me that does this.

There is a place in Windsor ,CA called Nor-Cal metal strip that dips bodys. The only thing I did`nt like was when the guy told me I had to remove all of the body filler and seam sealer. I did`nt ask him why since he was being a jerk about the whole thing anyway. post some "after" pics. I`m curious how it looks after the dip.

I have read on other post it is important to brace the cab so that when stripped it does not come out of shape, is that only for more intrusive methods like blasting? ST, what are your plans for the other body parts of the truck? More traditional methods?

I plan on having the inside/underside of the bed, fenders, hood, etc blasted and then take down the outside of 'em with a DA. The rest of the truck is pretty straight and rust-free.

I've thought about dipping my '69 tub, but I thought it was more expensive than that. I'm guessing a Blazer tub would be more, but probably not as bad as I guessed.
Definately keep us informed. I'm very currious how well it does on any bond, rust, etc.

A whole car body runs right at about $1000 so I would imagine your tub would be about the same if not less.

Please get lots of pics when you get it back so everyone can understand the process a little better & see the results.

Acid Dip
Here is a few pictures of a door and tailgate that i had dipped. I sprayed them with OSPHO, green pad sanded, epoxy primed. Did the metal work at a later date. With cabs, you got to have access to the inside of the metal. It can be spayed with a liquidy wash primer or primer with the right kind of spray wands and a rotissurie is a plus. I wish our acid dip shop had a primer dip that thet offered. For more information, get a hold ED at MOTHERTRUCKERS.

i was just about to say - i know Ed @ Mothertruckers does this kind of work. I was talking to him about it when I ordered my dynomax headers from him a couple weeks back. when i get my suspension right and a more reliable engine in the truck and i'm ready for body work (i'm a ways off - 1 or 2 years), i'm hoping to drag my cab down to him to be worked on.

I used this process when I restored my Buick 20 years ago. Took the whole front clip down and had it dipped in pieces. Even found pin hole rust that I didn't know existed in the fenders. Cleans every thing up real good. Takes everything off (rust, putty, paint, etc). Would highly recommend it, but can't find anybody around here that does it anymore. Environmental laws are becoming so strict that people just don't want to mess with it.
