i have the big fuel gauge so it only covers the bottom half of it.

actually they didnt steal anything from inside. i took the stereo out after because it was sitting ouitside for a while, and there was no cover for the shifter cas i was just mocking it up. after it got stolen i swapped out the 6cyl and 3spd for a 305 and th350 cause they f'd up the tranny

Not trying to be an a$$, but I really don't think they're all that rare.
I've gotten a couple out of medium duties in a junkyard, and we had an '87 C70 that had one (it was the newer style "script", for lack of a better word).
I've seen a couple on Ebay, too.
If you look through a big truck junkyard, I'd bet you might find one. It seems that trucks with wet kits (dump trucks or grain boxes) tend to have factory tachs.

cochino's guages

Cochino thats a sweetazz dash setup. Can you pleaze give some info on the white face guages you have? It has great visibility and just a totally different look from the norm.

Mount your Tach

I drilled 2 small holes beside the sun visor and mounted it up there. I then ran my wires and hid them in the weatherstripping running down and through the fusebox etc.. It looks good, as long as you don't use your sun visor.

The hardest part was getting a cluster that I was happy with. I bought a nice cluster off of Ebay but all of the gauges weren't correct for my truck. I had the good fortune of discusssing it with Crossy who happen to have what I needed. I sent him my cluster and he installed all the correct gauges. Once I got a complete cluster it was a matter of plugging it in and running a wire for the tach....

I thought all you had to do was to hook up the other gauge cluster up to your truck? What would not work? What was not correct and what did "Crossy" do? What was it the Crossy had that you needed? Just a few (proberly too many) questions. Just want to do it right. I really like your set up. I would rather put mine on in the dash as you have yours. Thanks.

Maybe it was just a coincidence that I've seen so many like that.
I remember seeing one on Ebay that was new in the box (just the tach, someone had bought out the parts inventory of an out-of-business dealership), and I don't remember it bringing a king's ransom, maybe a little over $100 (bad enough).

But then again, I could be way off!

Not really too hard of a job, just have to use your imagination a little bit. I got the guages through a speed shop, but Jegs is probably your best bet. Yea you can run a tach on the 87 also, it just connects to the bottom of the distributor next to where the coil wire plugs in.

They are Autometer Sport Comp Ultralites, the tach and speedo are 3 5/8", and the others are 2 1/16".

Heres one shot of mine. This is from when I had the auto in the truck.....it used to be like "ureckme" an move with the column when I shifted. THen I put in the floor shifter, then manual trans, now it sits slightly lower, ontop of my switch panel.

Without writing a book let me give you some answers. The cluster I bought would "work" in my 77, but all the gauges were not the correct gauges for a 77. Some of them came from a later model cluster. Since I am anal about these things I wanted everything to be correct. Crossy happened to have what I needed in has parts stash. I sent him my cluster and he swapped me for the correct gauges.

Here is a pic of the "Fuel" gauge that was not correct. If you look close you will see where the PO has painted over the "Unleaded Gas Only" lettering below the word " Fuel"......

put mine in the same place but i just used one of the screw holes the visor uses and the visor still comes down just far enough for me to get use of it
