boxrods, i have always run 168s in mine with no issuses. I tried installing blue 194s and they burned out in a matter of seconds, literally. so i just figured i got the wrong bulb and went with the 168s and have had the same one in there for 3yrs.

I'm just glad to see people are still using this mod and enjoying the results. For the amount of time it took me originally, it was well worth it. And being able to share that knowledge with all of you, even after all this time, makes if EVEN MORE worth it. |

I know some lightly paint their bulbs with blue paint (probably with a candy blue) to get the effect. Don't know if the heat 'affects' the paint. I wouldn't think so. I've heard positive views on this mod.

Re: brighter dash lights
Wow, cool to see an old post dug up. I did the dash light bezel chrome paint upgrade. Don't have pics of the process or before/after pics, but it's a piece of cake if you're comfortable pulling the dash. All I did was paint the light blue side of the deflector with chrome colored paint, and put all new bulbs. Made a HUGE difference.
For what it's worth, you can do a similar mod to the AC controls since after you do the dash, the AC control will look dim. I did take pics of that process. Here's a link that that (another old thread..heehee) http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=120408
