The only thing interesting I found in my truck was the gas pedal. It was under the seat when I bought it. Popped right back onto the floor studs so I have no idea why it was just laying under the seat.

I found a grand total of 5 heavy rubber mats screwed to the floor. (Who am I kidding -- the mats praticaly *were* the floor!)

Sounds like we all have found some "treasures". I was working on a door, and I found a mid-size ball peen hammer with the handle half rotted away. Had to have been in there 20 years. I've misplaced some tools before, but.....

Great stories, and I can relate to a few of them. When I bought my 67 short box I found a ashtray FULL of roaches the size of your thumb, (PO was well known for his weed) and that was back in the day when that was all fine with me, so needless to say I did not work on the truck much when I first got it. . I bough a 72 blazer recently and jammed under the dash was a pretty nice home made bong, with a bag of moldy weed packed in the A/C duct. That was shipped across country too!

I found acorns with a side chewed through ALL OVER the place. In the top of the hood, along the bottom of the radiator support, in a nest (I think) that was in what was left of the driver's side rear floor support. I also have two rusted through areas on top of the dash out towards the corners. From rodent nests???

I also found fiberglass repairs to the outside edges of the floor, bondo in the cab corners (shoot, the passenger side cab corner IS bondo ), bondo in the bed, etc, etc. The PO told me there was no rust . My first hot rod purchase and the awsome engine had my attention so I ignored the warning bells in my head when I saw what I thought MIGHT be fiberglass cloth on the underside along the rocker panel/floor junction.

Ah well, it runs great and I'll fix it all up over time. At least its free of rodents now.

A list of the things that I have found.

Lots and lots of mud wasp nests. Some as big as my fist, one old tennis ball, tTwo tractor spark plugs, one bird's nest, one radiator hose, one skeleton of a rat, several corncobs sitting on the intake manifold, several pieces of foam used to fashion a battery box, a bathroom sink, 30 gallons of paint and about a mile of bailing wire. Some of it structural.

The dog got the tennis ball, the cat played with the skeleton until it fell apart and I kept the radiator hose, might come in handy some day...

I found a HUGE wasp nest in my cowl A sock by the inner fender well in the engine compartment. But I was also able to find the original manual in the original protector sleeve and the original sales invoice. Still have yet to take up the carpet though so time will tell what other goodies I can find.

Found two pictures, of the PO's naked 240lb wife, in the glove compartment and a large pair of g-string panties under the passenger side of the seat.

I wondered why the PO and his wife were laughing as I drove the truck off, I thought it was because the truck was a rust bucket.

I had the original build sheet from mine too, but when I tried taking it out from under the seat it just turned to dust. Guess I shoulda left it there. I'm still not sure who taped that paper and key knockout there though. I took it to my Grandpaw and showed him and he doesn't think he did it, so I'm sure the original owner of the truck did. Grandpaw said he knew the PO and said he had my truck and two C20 stepsides when he bought it. Not sure where the other two trucks are though.

If he was, he was a damn bad aim! I found some porno magazines behind the gas tank of my yellow parts truck, they were really worn out though.

Must have been for her little girlfriend.

A fag-mag stuck to the floor?I`d rather scape up dog puke!(I have/my dog/old cat guts).I`d have to turn around and sell those trucks.Or,at least do a complete restoration including a chemical strip of every piece(sandblasting wouldn`t do) and junk the seat for another(I said junk, not sell),replace all knobs, the steering wheel and anything that could possibly be used for....I don`t need to say it. I`ll remember this if I see these trucks for sale.

The best thing I found was the seat.It had three covers on it.The lazy s.o.b. just kept putting new covers over the old worn out ones.It was a`70 Custom/10 with the full foam seat option.Very comfortable. When I took the saddle blanket, tweedy, and nylon covers off I found a nice black Custom-type seat. The kind with the non-reproduced lacey nylon upholstery.Like found in CustomDeluxe Suburbans.
