Heres a new pic of it on the ground. Notice the rear is a little higher which is b/c the rear tires are 30" and the fronts are 28". When I get my new tires which will be 27.5" it will level out

I have a question about the location of the bags. Why so close to the pivot point? Withe the bags mounted further back wouldn't the trailing arms be less stress, and would the suspension have more travel? I ask because of leverage........ I have built a couple of meduim duty tow trucks using air bags for the suspension and they seem to work better the farther back we could go from the pivot point. Much less stress and better ride.

Ok . . .... I read the posts & looked @ the pics but I still can't figure out why the heck anyone would need so much travel from the rear when you can only get 1/3 of it up front.

I guess if you wanted extreme lift for the sake of status, that's one thing.... but I just don't see any practical* reasoning for it. I can see moving them slightly forward or backward in an attempt to adjust the ride quality. But, like anything, too much of a good thing isn't necessarily good itself. Is this mod just for bragging rights?

Regardless, the truck looks pretty slick from the pics & I look forward to seeing it w/some more sheetmetal hung. Nice job!

*Disclaimer: Although the word 'practical' itself doesn't normally co-exist w/extreme-drop air ride suspensions, its context fit my statement.

Well, I have my reservations about the trailing arms and/or the bags holding up to that much stress, but guess we'll see. I just pray it doesn't come apart at high speed on him. That would be a disaster.

If I did not feel safe I would have not built it. No its not for bragging rights. Thats the only spot I could fit them on the arms w/o interference of the frame w/ the truck that low. Yes I could have installed a step notch but I didnt. The arms are going to be reinforced

assuming from the look of suspension in the truck it is going to show truck/cruizer and will haul nothing more a couple of passengers and maybe a cooler or two , so the set up youve got in the pictures should work fine ,the only suggestion i have would be to weld upthe seams,top and bottom of the trailing arms

Couple of updates, I redid the rear notch and a couple of other things. I will take some pics when I finish. The cab and bed are in the body shop getting paint.

Looks good lets see some new pics. I wouldn't worry about the bag location I had an S-10 with a 2-link with 2600lb. slambags mounted like the same distance from the piviot point as yours with no problems. The only thing with them that close is it does not take alot of pressure to lift the back up so driving real low it tends to feel like your on a ocean liner boat. Where are your shocks mounted and what kind are they? Again it looks good, I want to see it with the front sheet metal back on and some 5 spoke 22's

truck looks really good and dont let anyone freak you out about the pivot point. if you reinforce your arms they will be just fine. your not towing a 5th wheel with that anyways . it will be fine
