I think I agree with you and judging from the voting I'd say it looks like REDNECK is going to win the day. A note to Longhorn Man on Rednecks. Keep in mind that djracer associates 'towards the middle' with Southern Rednecks. I'm sure you have rednecks in Ohio but the ones in the deep south are a bread apart. I'm a redneck from West Texas (where I hope to be moving back to in the near future) but the Rednecks I grew up with out there can't hold a candle to the ones I've met here in north Mississippi.

I started calling tailpipes straight out the back "shin burners" after my friend got a bad burn on his leg when he leaned against his tailgate to get something out of the bed of his truck. If they have to come straight out the back, I think that farther apart is better. Gets them a little out of the way.

You are correct Old Yeller; that picture is definitely not in Tennessee. It was taken in the desert of Nevada on my trip from California to TN in 2003.

On a stepside IMHO, they should exit right undet the steps on a 45 degree angle, fortuantely my uncle who built my truck thought the same, but if it's a choice out the back I voted for towards the middle.

Redneck Wins The Day
Well here is the finished product. I completed all the welding yesterday and had to wait till today to get both the chrome tips.
I realy appreciate everyone taking the time to share their thoughts. You can't tell it in the picture but the tips are actually recessed under the bumper about a half inch. If you compare the final with the original 'towards the middle', you'll notice they are a little further apart. That's because I decided I needed to move them apart a little to clear the bumper to frame mounting bolts. On a final note, I took it out for a little spin (wheel spin that is) this afternoon. All I can say is whew, heart's still beating hard. Needs some fine tuning, perhaps even a bigger carb, but it's stout.

Just in case you're coming through here rather than Meridian, I'll PM my # as well. BTW, the "redneck" exhaust looks just fine. Not the way I did mine but, to each his own.

Exhaust looks good, just a little wider than I put mine. That's a stout bumper you have on there.

I didnt get a chance to reply yet but it seems you read my mind. somewhere in between was my thought. I used to have mine out the side but sanity prevailed. I ended up running them out the back & outside the frame with a short turn-down before the bumper. I think I'll do the same with my stepside when the 472 migrates out from under the bench.
